Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for April 22, 2022

Horse by Horse News

Some new very good news as we are looking forward to opening day at Monmouth Park which is just 2 weeks away.

  • For those who missed the live viewing, we are delighted to inform you our Runhappy Colt brought $160,000 at OBS on Wednesday! Please read, “Kenwood Racing’s Runhappy Colt Brings $160k at the OBS spring sale!"
  • A large number of Kenwood Group Members and Partners were able to visit our Arrogate – Belle Chloe Colt, Fire's Finale and U Kant Whip It last Saturday at Overbrook Farm.  Check out the photos here. We were able to see them perform under tack on the training track on a sunny but very windy day.  Special thanks to Scott for arranging such a nice visit.  Also, thanks to Rory Huston for hosting us at the farm.  These three will ship into Monmouth Park in the next few days.
  • Warn did not get a great trip for his Kenwood Racing debut Saturday at Gulfstream Park, in a race that was ultimately pulled off the grass and run on the tapeta course.  He was boxed in along the rail for most of the race, but he showed why we claimed him when in deep stretch when he was finally given some room to run; finishing a fast closing 6th, and just missing 3rd place by a long neck, and 2nd place by just over a length.  He will be shipping up to Monmouth Park next week with Kelly Breen.
  • Tetragrammaton is fine out of his race and may be entered tomorrow for a race on April 29th at Gulfstream Park before being shipped to Monmouth Park.  We will keep you updated as to the developments.
  • No Commission finished 4th in his race on Sunday at Gulfstream Park and was claimed from us in an 8 -way shake.
  • Life On the Edge is doing well training with Mark Salvaggio at Penn National. She had an easy breeze last Saturday to begin prepping for a turf race on May 7th at Penn National.

Life On the Edge (5-Year-Old Mare)
Date: April 16, 2022
Track: PENN NATIONAL
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 52:30 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 45/55

  • Lisa Limon and her 2 foals are all well at Hidden Brook Farm.  See picture of Lisa Limon and her Vino Rosso foal. She was bred to Connect on Monday April 18th.  Let’s hope all goes well and she will be in foal again this spring.

Horse by Horse News

Some quick notes from the past week as we are looking forward to opening day at Monmouth Park which is just 4 weeks away.

  • Tetragrammaton ran a commendable race going against winners for the first time.  He broke alertly from the gate and held the lead into the stretch, but tired to be beaten by just over two lengths.  With a short 2 week turnaround from his winning effort, we are very encouraged by the outcome and look forward to a successful turf campaign at Monmouth Park this summer.  Congratulations to our ARC22 Group who now have 2 wins and 2 thirds from 5 starts at the Gulfstream Championship Meet.
  • There are a limited number of shares left in Group 81 our Arrogate – Belle Chloe Colt. The shares have sold quickly and we expect to close out the group shortly.  For those who are interested in some additional information, please visit the current offerings page on our website.   We have scheduled a visit with him at Overbrook Farm in Colts Neck next Saturday April 16th.  If anyone is interested in attending, please let us know ASAP as we already have a large group confirmed.
  • Poppy's Boys had a maintenance work on Saturday and we were finally able to get him entered in Race 2 at Gulfstream on Thursday April 14th.  It is a short field of 6 sprinting 5 ½ furlongs on the Tapeta surface.  He gets top rider Paco Lopez in the irons for his Kenwood Racing Debut.   Additional details to follow.

  • A lot of good news over the past week.  First, we would like to welcome our newest Stable Addition, as Lisa Limon had a beautiful filly by Vino Rosso Tuesday evening. Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for March 10, 2022

March 12, 2022 at 7:48 am • By Anonymous

General News

The team is making our way to Ocala for the March OBS with the goal of acquiring 1 or 2 quality horses at a reasonable price to add to the Stable.  We expect this Sale to be highly competitive and as you know, we are highly disciplined buyers; if we can buy a quality horse at what we feel is a value price we will bid, if not we will bide our time and wait for another sale.  You can view all the action through the OBS Website.

Our Liam’s Map – Lisa Limon Colt is Hip # 577 and is scheduled to breeze on Saturday March 12th and go on the auction block on Wednesday March 16th.   Good luck to Group 55 (The Lisa Limon Broodmare Group) and our partner Ralph Pastore for a good outcome.

Horse by Horse News

  • We would like to welcome our two newest Stable Additions for the ARC 22 group who were both Claimed last Sunday at Gulfstream Park. Poppy's Boys is a consistent 5yo, with a proven record who should be a terrific horse for us at the Mid- Atlantic tracks. He came out of the race excellent so far, and we are excited to have him in the stable.  We were also able to win a 3-way shake for the lightly raced, 4yo maiden Warn, who rallied from well back to finish a solid 2nd; ultimately exactly what we want, as he kept his Maiden condition.  He too appears to come home sound and happy, and another horse we are excited to add to our stable.
  • Life On the Edge ran another excellent hard trying race, finishing second on Tuesday March 8th at Penn National. As promised, she has been given some R&R at Sunset Meadow Farm before the Spring Turf season begins.
  • Tetragrammaton is entered on the Also Eligible List for Saturday March 12th in an overflow field of 14.  Tyler Gafflione is in the irons for our ARC 22 Group.  We will keep you updated as to his status as soon as the information is available.
  • Fire's Finale is well at Overbrook farm where he is getting a brief rest. He will begin training shortly to get ready to race this Spring.
  • U Kant Whip It is doing well at Overbrook Farm in Colts Neck and has begun light training to prepare for the Spring Turf Season.
  • Our Runhappy Colt doing excellent at at Manuden Farm in Ocala.
  • Lisa Limon is approaching her due date for the Vin Rosso foal.  She may have a new son of daughter before the weekend is up.   See report below form Sergio at Hidden Brook Farm.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for March 3, 2022

March 4, 2022 at 8:31 am • By Anonymous

General News

  • We are diligently preparing for the March OBS for two big reasons this year. First and foremost, we will be trying our best to acquire 1 or 2 quality horses at a reasonable price to add to the Stable. We expect this Sale to be highly competitive and as you know, we are highly disciplined buyers. If we can buy a quality horse at what we feel is a value price, we pull the trigger, if not, we will bide our time and wait for another sale. In the next day or so, we will be sending out a short survey in order to gauge interest in joining our 2 year-old Groups this Spring. Please take a few minutes to fill it out and return to us.
  • In addition, our Liam’s Map – Lisa Limon Colt is prepped and ready for the auction where he will be Hip # 577. Good luck to Group 55 (The Lisa Limon Broodmare Group) and our partner Ralph Pastore, who have been waiting patiently for this sale to arrive.
  • Some more exciting news, as we have created a Racing Contest that is based around our ARC22 Horses. It will be available to all Current Kenwood Racing Group Members and anyone who has previously been a Kenwood Racing Group Member. Please look for an email from contest@kenwoodracing.com later this evening
  • Kenwood Racing Group Member Mike Perullo sent us this photo of Giuliana Vee’s first foal after she was retired from racing near the end of 2020. Mike sent this message to us this morning:

“FYI. Guiliana Vee was bred to The Factor and had her filly this morning. The new owner was kind enough to send me a couple of pictures. Just thought I would share them with you, and if you wanted to share with the rest of the Kenwood team.”

We are very happy that she is doing well in her new career as a Broodmare.

Horse by Horse News

  •  Bluto's Candy will make his Kenwood debut tomorrow as he is entered in Race 10 at Gulfstream Park.  He will be going 1 mile and 70 yards on the Turf with Paco Lopez aboard.   It is a large field of 10 and he is currently the second choice at 7/2.  We are hoping that with a good trip he will be able to break his maiden and start his Kenwood career off on the right hoof.  Good luck to the Group 77 ARC22 members.
  • Life On the Edge is entered on Tuesday March 8th at Penn National in Race 1 in a short field of five going 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt.  She will have top rider Tyler Conner in the irons and is 2/1 on the early line.  After the race, she will be given some R&R on the farm before the Spring Turf season begins.   Good luck to all Group 50 Members.
  • Tetragrammaton has settled in well at Palm Meadows in Trainer Kelly Breen’s Barn.  There is a possible slot for him coming up on March 12th to begin his Kenwood Racing career.
  • Fire's Finale is well at Overbrook farm, where he is getting a brief rest. He will begin training again in Mid-March to get ready to race this Spring.
  • U Kant Whip It is doing well at Overbrook Farm in Colts Neck and has begun some light training to prepare for the Spring Turf Season.
  • Our Liam’s Map Colt and our Runhappy Colt are both doing excellent at at Manuden Farm in Ocala.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for February 25, 2022

February 26, 2022 at 6:33 am • By Anonymous

Horse by Horse News

After a wild week of attempted claiming for our ARC22 where we lost shakes for horses from 8-way to up to 28 way we were lucky to get two new horses to add to the Stable.

  • Last Saturday, we were able to add a lightly raced 3yo gelding by Twirling Candy named Bluto's Candy.  He finished an excellent 3rd, despite a wide trip around both turns in his first turf try, beaten just a neck for 2nd, and less than two lengths for the win.  We are looking for good things from him in the near future.
  • Earlier today we were also able to Claim Tetragrammaton, a 3 year old gelding who was making his first start.  He finished 4th about 8 lengths from the winner who broke the track record in the race. We look forward to both of them providing some exciting action for our Group Members.
  • Life On the Edge will be entered on Tuesday for a race at Penn National on Friday March 4th.  After the race, she will be given some R&R on the farm before the Spring Turf season begins.
  • Fire's Finale is well at Overbrook farm where he is getting a brief rest. He will begin training again in Mid-March to get ready to race this Spring.
  • U Kant Whip It is doing well at Overbrook Farm in Colts Neck, while getting some R & R before turf season this spring.  He is ready to begin some light training next week.
  • Our Liam’s Map Colt and our Runhappy Colt are both doing excellent at at Manuden Farm in Ocala.  See the stunning photo of Lisa Limon’s colt who will be HIP #577 at the March OBS two-year olds in training Auction.
  • Tracy Ann’s Legacy impressive career with Kenwood Racing came to an end on Saturday when she was claimed at Gulfstream Park after a 2nd place finish.  She missed the win by a matter of inches in a close photo.  Her Kenwood career spanned about 1 ½ years with multiple Allowance wins and 2 Stakes Placings.  She earned over 150K for the stable and brought a lot of excitement to our 2020 Active Racing Group.  We all will miss her and wish her the best of luck with her new connections
  • The Ghost of N Y was retired from racing after his last race.  He is perfectly healthy but just was not cutting it as a racehorse and we are happy that he has been accepted to a 6-8 month exercise study at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center sponsored by the PA Racing Commission. During the study, he will receive top quality care (more like spoiled from what we are told) and the New Bolton Center will work towards rehoming him for a riding career at the conclusion of the study. It’s the best outcome we could have asked for him as he will have a comfortable second career. Huge thanks to our Racing Manager Scott Schaub for working to get him accepted top this program.
  • Lisa Limon and her Palace Malice filly both well at Hidden Brook Farm.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for February 17, 2022

February 18, 2022 at 7:58 pm • By Anonymous

Horse by Horse News

  • To begin, here’s a picture of our old friend PANGO enjoying his retirement with his friend Goldie.  We are very pleased that he has transitioned nicely to a riding horse for his new owner Callee after his Kenwood Racing career has ended.

  • Tracy Ann's Legacy had an impressive work on Friday February 11 at Palm Meadows and is entered in the 9th race this Saturday Feb 19th at Gulfstream Park going 5 furlongs on the turf for a large $61K purse.  She gets Paco Lopez aboard from post 7 to try to wire this field of 8.  She has been ready to run for several weeks but races came off the turf and she was scratched.  The weather looks to be good right up to race time so we are hoping she gets to show off her stuff.

Tracy Ann's Legacy (6-Year-Old Mare)
Date: February 11, 2022
Track: PALM MEADOWS TRAINING CENTER
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 48:60 Breezing
Track Condition: Firm

  • Life On the Edge finished a hard trying 2nd int the 5th race on Tuesday February 8th at Penn National.  She gave her usual game effort but could just not get past the Winner.  She will race one more time before getting some R &R prior to the spring Turf Season.

  • The Ghost of N Y was a disappointing 6th on Wednesday at Penn National and we will be evaluating our next move for him in the coming days.

  • U Kant Whip It is doing well at Overbrook Farm in Colts Neck while getting some R & R before turf season this spring.

  • Liam’s Map Colt and our Runhappy Yearling are both doing excellent at at Manuden Farm in Ocala.

Nick de Meric of Manuden Farm says He’s delighted (his words) with both of our horses. The Liam’s Map colt worked really well again this week at the farm.  He will ship over in 2 weeks and see how he does on the OBS Polytrack.

Nick is equally pleased with our Runhappy colt. Said he’s “a big strapping colt who does everything I’ve asked him to”.

  • Lisa Limon and her Palace Malice filly both well at Hidden Brook Farm.  See picture of the young filly at Hidden Brook Farm.
