Stable Notes 9/1/25
Hi All,
Happy Labor Day, we have a race today at Monmouth Park and are still feeling good about our racing Triple on Thursday August 21st where three runners at two different tracks all won within 30 minutes of each other. Since Memorial Day weekend the Stable has a running line of 18 starts with 9 Wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds for a Winning percentage of 50% and 89% in the money. Congratulations to all Kenwood Partners & Group members and Trainers Kelly Breen and Mark Salvaggio. We also had a great day for all who attended our Annual picnic on Sunday August 24th at Monmouth Park. Thanks to all who contributed to this successful event and especially the wonderful cookies that Group Members Meral and Antonio brought for the occasion (see attached picture above).
Outlaw Country is entered today in Race 4 at Monmouth Park going 5 ½ furlongs on the turf with Paco Lopez aboard (see pp’s attached above and details below). He is currently the morning line favorite at 3-1 in a field of nine after one scratch.

Cadet Corps and One Time Willard won back-to-back Claiming Crown Preview Races at Colonial Downs on Thursday August 21st with Paco Lopez guiding them both to victory (see link to article in the Racing Biz below and result charts and a picture of the horses and trophies they won above). Congratulations to our ARC25 Group 97 and Trainer - Partner Kelly Breen. Scott’s post-race comments.
CNL: Paco Lopez wins four Claiming Crown Preview races * The Racing Biz
CONGRATULATIONS!! I’m almost speechless over the way our horses ran down at Colonial Downs, with CADET CORPS and ONE TIME WILLARD sweeping the TOP TWO Claiming Crown Preview Day Qualifiers at Colonial Downs to get their pictures taken!! Both wins earned automatic entries, and $2,000 shipping stipends, into their respective Claiming Crown races on November 15th at Churchill Downs – ‘The Emerald’ for Willard, worth $175,000, and ‘The Jewel’ for Cadet Corps, carrying a $225,000 purse, because of a $25,000 Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund (KTDF) bonus for Kentucky Breds, which Cadet Corps is! It’s was an exciting day, or 30-40 minutes to be exact, and I could not be more thrilled for all of you, and our Kenwood Racing Partners! We were also able to win an Allowance race at Penn National in between these two wins, making for an extra special day overall! To add to the excitement, Kenwood was awarded trophies for the wins today
Cali Heat also came up big winning and allowance race at Penn National in between the two races at Colonial Downs on the 21st see attached chart above). Unfortunately, he suffered a stress fracture in his right sesamoid bone and has been retired from racing. He is now at Sunset Meadow Farm on the recovery trail for a second career as a riding horse. See Scott’s post-race comments below.
With the race getting taken off the grass, we knew there would be some scratches, but a field of eight ended up a field of 3 at Post Time, and CALI HEAT proved his 1-5 favoritism in front-running style, winning his first level Allowance race and helping secure a Kenwood sweep yesterday of all three races we had runners in! It was a memorable day to say the least, and it was another strong effort from Cali Heat, who broke alertly and took command from the start of the race. Jockey David Cora knew he had horse, so when Cali Heat was prompted turning for him, there was plenty left in the tank for Cali Heat to secure back-to-back wins and improving his 2025 record to 10:4-1-4, with over $67,000 in gross purse earnings; and sitting just shy of $100,000 in career earnings!
After multiple x-rays have revealed a minor stress fracture of Cali Heat’s right sesamoid bone, a non life-threatening injury in this case, we have come to the painstaking decision to retire CALI HEAT to a second career. He will require about a year of layup, including a few months of strict stall rest, but we consulted with multiple surgeons on this one, and the prognosis is excellent to be someone’s recreational rider!
Speed Figures was a strong second on Saturday August 23rd with Melissa Iorio in the saddle. We are very happy with his performance so far off the claim in late July and are looking for more good things to come from this young gelding. Scott’s post-race comments are below.
Well, we can’t win them all! SPEED FIGURES ran another big race yesterday on the front end, setting FAST fractions early, but just couldn’t hold off the late surge from the winner, to settle for a game 2nd Place finish against tough Allowance field! It was another strong effort from our new claim, off of short rest, and we’re excited for what the future holds for this Florida Bred. He came out of the race in a good order albeit a little more tired than his previous races. After running three races in four weeks, with two wins and a 2nd, Speed Figures has deserved a nice a little break! We’ll wait to see the Meadowlands Condition Book before making any decisions on his next target race, but he kept the second level Allowance Condition and we’ll look for that similar race coming back at the Meadowlands. Quite the week for ARC25 after two wins on Thursday, and a solid 2nd place yesterday, as the stable continues to stay hot!
Red Head Italian has returned to Kelly Breen’s barn and resumed training after a short break at Sunset Meadow Farm. She has been galloping well and will have a breeze sometime shortly. We are hoping to get her in a race before the meet closes on September 14th or right after at the Meadowlands.
Lisa Connects continues to train forwardly for her racetrack debut. She had another good breeze yesterday and should be ready for her debut in the coming weeks.

Stable Notes 8/21/25
Hi All,
We are looking forward to a big day today with three runners at two different tracks all within 30 minutes later this afternoon as well as another entry on Saturday at Monmouth Park. Also, Sunday August 24th will be our Annual Picnic and those who have confirmed attendance will receive final details tomorrow. The weather looks to be cooperating, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone that day.
Cadet Corps after a blazing work on Sunday 8/10 (see below) and One Time Willard are entered today in back-to-back races 10 & 11 today at Colonial Downs in New Kent Virginia. Paco Lopez made the trip to ride both of our Group 97 ARC25 runners in qualifying races for the Claiming Crown which will be held at Churchill Downs in November. Finishing first or second gets a fully paid entry into the Claiming Crown races and a first-place finish also earns a $2000 shipping stipend. (See pp’s attached above and details below). See link to press release from Colonial Downs about race 10 and Cadet Corps.
A large group of Kenwood partners, group members and friends are meeting at Monmouth Park in the Great Hall to watch the races today. Good luck to all Group 97 ARC25 Members and Trainer – partner Kelly Breen. Scott’s pre-race comments are below.
An exciting day ahead down at Colonial Downs for Claiming Crown Preview Day, as CADET CORPS and ONE TIME WILLARD run back-to-back in Races 10 and 11: competing for a total purse value of $187,500, and an automatic bid to the Claiming Crown at Churchill Downs on November 15th! Cadet Corps runs first in Race 10 at 3:26 pm, The Jewel Qualifier, and breaks from Post Position #3, in a shortened field of six runner after two early scratches of a couple longshots, #5-Mowins and #6-Murray. The speed of the race and ML favorite, #7-Certified Loverboy, should see some company on the front end with #8-Bernin Hot being a ‘need-the-lead’ type of horse as well. With #1-Love Me Not also flashing early speed last out in a dirt sprint, we should see an honest pace on the frontend. CC is coming into the race ready to go, and Paco will look to have him saving ground from his inside post position while sitting off the early speed. If the pace isn’t fast up front, we know Cadet Corps can stalk the pace and still have run late, so we’ll let Paco read and react out of the gate with the early pace. It is a one turn race, so positioning up the long backstretch is going to be key, and the inside post position should be advantageous with a clean break! Fingers crossed!
Next up, Race 11 is schedule to go at 3:56 PM, and there were quite a few scratches in this race, as it went from an oversubscribed field of 16 down to just 7 runners after the early scratches. Mainly longshot contenders that scratched, we did see #5-Lorenz get scratched, who was the third choice on the ML at 9-2 odds. Not much early speed left after the scratches, but #3-Kake’s Arrow looks to be the speed of the race on paper, and he is still running. With that said, he may not have much company up front, and we could see a slower pace develop because of that. Willard drew Post Position #7, which ends up in the middle of the pack in this depleted field, and his best races have been stalking the early pace while still have his late kick, and with the early speed to his inside, things could setup nicely for him. It’s still a tough race after the scratches, but Willard has been improving every race for us, Paco knows him well, and we’re looking for another big effort from him today! Good luck to all Partners and ARC25 members; let’s get lucky!

Cali Heat won his last race by 6+ lengths on July 30th and will be gunning for two in a row this afternoon at 3:52 pm at Penn National with David Cora back in the irons (See pp’s above and details below). He has been improving steadily with each race since returning from a deep cut on his knee last year. The race has been called off the turf and the field is now down to five. Good luck to all Group 93 Members and Trainer Mark Salvaggio). Scott’s pre-race comments are below.
Penn National is running a rare card during the day today, and CALI HEAT is scheduled to run at 3:52 PM today in an Allowance Sprint! Originally scheduled for the turf, Penn National has pulled their racing off the grass due to the rain in the Northeast and it will be run at 5-furlongs on the main track. Jockey David Cora is back aboard after their blowout victory against Starter Allowance company last out. A short field of seven runners was made even smaller when the top two choice on the ML scratched with the race coming off the grass - #2-RyeDiggityDog and #5-Pearl Of Acclaim. The pacesetters of #6-Banjo and #7-Moncrief are still running and should provide nice targets for Cali Heat to stalk from his inside post position, with David looking to tip him out at the 1/8th-Pole turning for home. Cali Heats best races have been stalking the early pace within a length or two, and we’ll look to be in a similar position this afternoon heading into the turn. It’s a cutback in distance to 5-furlongs, so he doesn’t have as much distance to run them down and will need to be engaged early, off the early speed. Mark Salvaggio mentioned there could be more scratches coming, but for now, we’ll take a short field of five horses competing for a $35,000 purse! Fingers crossed, and good luck to all Partners and Group Members today! Cali Heat has been on the improve all year, and we’re looking for another big effort from him today with the step up in class.

Speed Figures is entered in Race 7 on Saturday August 23rd at Monmouth Park in a field of nine going 5 ½ furlongs on the turf (see pp’s above and details below). Melissa Iorio, who guided our homebred Vino Limone to victory in her debut race last August will take the reins in a bid to get a third win in a row and 2nd in Kenwood colors for Speed Figures. Good luck to all Group 97 ARC25 members and Trainer- Partner Kelly Breen.
We have decided to enter SPEED FIGURES in a second level Allowance at Monmouth Park on Saturday! Another turf sprint, coming back on two weeks rest again, Speed Figures has been doing too good out his back-to-back wins to pass up this turf sprint entry, at the Allowance level. Paco Lopez is not riding at Monmouth Park on Saturday, so we have given the mount to a young, hardworking rider, Melissa Iorio, to take the reins on Saturday! Carded as Race 7 on the nine-race card, with a Post Time scheduled for 3:42 PM, Speed Figures drew the middle, #4 Post Position, against of full field of nine runners. While there is some early speed signed on for yet another step up in class, he does appear to be the speed-of-the-speed on paper, and we’ll look for Melissa to get him out of the gate cleanly and right into his smooth rhythm on the lead. There are bound to be some pursuers though, most notably #2-Makeit To Cheyenne, #6-Gold Trust, #7-Uncle Dar, and maybe even #9-Atta Boy from the outside post position (who Speed Figures beat handily, two back, in the race we claimed SF out of). Additionally, we’re likely to see #3-Big Z OG and #8-Pealing Lad coming late down the stretch! It will be a real class test for Speed Figures, and while the team briefly discussed the quick turnaround – this will be his third race in 4 weeks – he has been doing too well in the AM, with too much good energy, to pass on this entry! As they often say in this game, when your horse is ready to run, you run them! And Speed Figures is showing every indication that he’s ready to roll again. The Equibase Early Entry Notification is below, and I have attached the early PP’s to kickstart you’re handicapping for the weekend!
Speed Figures is entered to run on August 23, 2025, at MONMOUTH PARK.

Outlaw Country is well out of his last race, and we are looking to get him back in the starting gate as soon as a race comes up as Trainer Kelly Breen says that he is ready to go.
Red Head Italian has returned to Kelly Breen’s barn and resumed training after a short break at Sunset Meadow Farm. We are hoping to get her in a race before the meet closes on September 14th
Lisa Connects continues to train forwardly for her racetrack debut. See Scott’s report below.
Hello Group 98,
Another nice week for homebred, 2YO filly, Lisa Connects with her morning training! She registered another breeze Sunday, clocking 3-furlongs in company in 37.4 seconds, while keeping pace with a 2YO that has already raced once for Kelly! The Equibase Workout Notification is below. As Kelly said after the breeze, “She did everything we asked, and has progressed nicely to this point. We have her on a bit of a ‘fast-track’, just because of where most of the other babies are with their training right now, and she is handling it all really well.” We still don’t have a target for a debut race, but she is already working through the Starting Gate, and below is a video of her on Saturday, starting a workout from a hand-drawn starting gate (LC is on the outside, furthest from the camera). As you can see, she hopped the first step, but quickly recovered to catch up with the other pair, before eventually settling into a gallop for the rest of her workout. It was an impressive first try out of the Starting Gate, and she should only build off of that this week when she returns for more practice. Fingers always crossed! If you are having trouble viewing the video in the email below (trying something new), please use the following link: Lisa Connects - MTH Starting Gate (Outside).mp4. If the video is showing below in a small window, click in the bottom-right corner of the video, to expand to full screen.
Stable Notes May 7, 2025
Hi All,
A race tonight and much more to come as Monmouth Park opens for its 80th season on Saturday afternoon.
We will be hosting our “Owner for a Day Program” on Saturday June 14th Haskell Preview Day (see attached notice above). It is a great opportunity for anyone who has not been a Kenwood Horse Group Member to see Morning Training and visit our horses in Kelly Breen’s Barn on the Monmouth Park Backside. Afterwards you will be able to watch the races from a beautiful Winner’s Circle Terrace Suite with both breakfast and lunch included. As a bonus the first 5000 in attendance that day will receive a Monmouth Park Hoodie. A great Father’s Day Gift. Please let us know if you are interested in receiving more information as space is limited.
Cali Heat is entered tonight in Race 3 at Penn National with Tyler Conner in the irons going 6 furlongs on the main track (see pp’s attached above and details below). Trainer Mark Salvaggio feels that he is ready to go for his 2nd win in a row after a nice breeze on April 29th (details below). Scott’s pre-race comments are:
All systems are a go tonight for CALI HEAT, as he steps up in class off his win last out and looking to make it two in a row! Tyler Conner is back aboard for the 6-furlong sprint, carded as Race 3 with a Post Time just before 6:45 PM tonight! Cali Heat drew the #3 Post Position and is 7-5 on the ML. There is not a lot of early speed signed on with this short field of six runners, and the ML favorite #5-Saponara looks to the only other early speed on paper along with Cali Heat. While Cali Heat has proven more successful stalking the early speed, Tyler Conner may have no choice but to be on the pace with Cali Heat today, as Saponara breaks to their outside and prefers a similar stalking setup to Cali Heat. With that said, speed can carry at Penn National after heavy rains, and they got a lot of rain out there through the weekend, so on the pace might be the place to be! The track was fast last week for Cali Heat’s last breeze, so we’ll see how it is playing in the first couple races; both of which are 6-furlong dirt sprints, too. The #1-Grey Streak could be interesting, as he exits a poor showing against Starter Allowance company, but he has 2-wins and 1-second in his last three races against Claiming company, so he can’t be overlooked in this spot; albeit it’s a step up for him too, from his win at the Clm7500 level. Mark texted this morning that Cali Heat is “sharp”, and fingers crossed he runs his race tonight! He tried hard every time, which is one of the fun things about this horse but has also been improving since returning to training last Fall, and we’re hopeful he answers the bell in the step up in class tonight. Best of luck to all Group 93 members and our Kenwood Racing Partners! Fingers crossed for a clean trip, and little racing luck tonight!
Cali Heat is entered today at PENN NATIONAL.

Stable Notes Week of April 4th
Hello Kenwood Racing Family,
After back-to-wins at Penn National with CALI HEAT and LISA’S PALACE to end March, Kenwood Racing is off to a quick start in 2025 compiling a running line of 13:3-2-3; good for a 23% Winning Percentage and nearly 62% ITM finish for our runners so far! We are looking to keep that winning streak going with possible races for our ARC25 runners, ONE TIME WILLARD and CADET CORPS, next week! One Time Willard’s entry is today for next Thursday, while Cadet Corps has a possible entry tomorrow, for next Friday. Both runners had timed breezes last week in preparation for their next races, and please use the links below to see videos of their workouts:
One Time Willard - PMM Breeze 03.30.25 (Inside).MOV
Cadet Corps - PMM Breeze 03.30.25.MOV
OUTLAW COUNTRY, hasn’t missed a beat with his training since returning to Kelly’s barn earlier this year, and we are targeting his comeback race later this month, on April 27th, right at Gulfstream Park! OC has progressed to weekly breezes at this point in his training, and is on track to breeze 4-furlongs this Sunday at Palm Meadows on the turf course. Please use the following link to see a video of his breeze this past Sunday at Palm Meadows - Outlaw Country - PMM Breeze 03.30.25.MOV. Fingers crossed, but the team is very excited to get OC’s 5YO campaign underway, coming out of his first layup after 27 straight races over 25 months to start his racing career as a 2YO back in 2022! After eight wins and over a quarter million dollars in lifetime earnings, Outlaw Country looks ready to take another step forward this year!
RED HEAD ITALIAN is doing great back in training with trainer Brittany Russell at Laurel Park, and will be in training over the next 7 weeks as we target the first NJ Bred Allowance of the year at Monmouth Park on Saturday, May 24th. RHI has come out of her 30-day R&R ready to get to work, and Brittany said RHI’s gallops have been strong, so she going to have her on a 10-day breeze schedule heading into that race. She had her first real breeze back this morning, stopping the clock in 37.1 seconds for the 3-furlong dirt breeze which was the bullet breeze on the day, at that distance. The Equibase Workout Notification is included below.
Finally, our unnamed, 2YO homebred filly by Connect is doing well down at Whispering Meadows Equestrian in Delaware, and has recently completed her Delaware Certification to be eligible for restricted races and increased purses right a Delaware Park; a track we often look to ship into, given it’s close proximity to Monmouth Park! She is going to remain in Delaware for the breaking and training process the rest of this Spring into early Summer, and the goal is to have her ready to head to a race track by the middle part of the Summer, which will be the final step in her training and preparation towards a 2YO debut later this year! There is still quite a bit of “learning” to do once she does get to the race track, but she is a smart girl and has handled everything like a professional so far, and we are just excited to see her continue to progress!
Last piece of news to share is just a reminder about our first OWNER FOR A DAY event of the 2025 season, scheduled for Saturday June 14th at Monmouth Park for Haskell Preview Day! Limited to a small group, we provide a light breakfast while watching horses train in the early morning hours, before heading to the backside to visit with our horses for pictures, carrots and a behind-the-scenes look at everything that goes into caring for these equine athletes on a daily basis! After training, we’ve reserved one of the new Winner’s Circle Suites where we’ll provide food and non-alcoholic drinks while enjoying the races from one of the best seats in the house! We’ll take a pre-race visit to the paddock, talking handicapping and answer any and all questions you may have about this great game! If you’ve been following Kenwood Racing for years, but have been hesitant to get involved, this is the event for you!
Stable Notes February 28, 2025
Hi All,
An entry this afternoon and many possibilities upcoming for our horses in the month of March. With the weather finally breaking in the Northeast all our runners are being targeted for races by their trainers.
One Time Willard is making his Kenwood Racing debut today at Gulfstream Park in Race 5 a little before 3 pm (see pp’s attached above and details below). Paco Lopez will ride breaking from Post 1 in this One Mile turf race with seven other runners. Scott’s race day comments are below and Good luck to all Group 97 ARC25 Members and Trainer- Partner Kelly Breen.
It’s race day for ONE TIME WILLARD, and we couldn’t be more excited to get him into the Starting Gate in the Kenwood silks with this group! Willard didn’t do much in the race we claimed him out of on January 31st, but he hit the gate at the start and was stuck wide the whole way, and more importantly - he’s come out of that race training great and what matters is what he does moving forward for us! He was forgotten about on the Morning Line, sitting at 10-1 as the 4th favorite, but it’s a three-horse race according to the ML; with #5-Mister Abarrio sitting at 2-1, #6-Break Out at 5-2, and #2-Nantasket Beach close behind at 7-2 odds. Willard gets a familiar face in the saddle with Paco Lopez guiding the way and has won 3 of his 4 races at this One Mile distance on the turf. There are no scratches in Race 5 today, and the three favorites certainly look tough, but both One Time Willard and #7-Four Top are two longshots that fit from a figure standpoint. Willard shipped out well this morning from Palm Meadows and is ready to go today! We’ll need a clean break, but a ground saving trip early hopefully sets things up for a nice closing click down the stretch drive in our first race for ARC25!
Cadet Corps had a 4-furlong breeze on the dirt track at Palm Meadows on Sunday and has come out of the work doing great (see link to view and details below). As we said from the start, we claimed Cadet Corps to get him back on the dirt, where he has nearly been unbeatable, going 7:5-2-0 over his seven starts on dirt. We are targeting him for a seven-furlong race on the dirt on Friday March 7th with entries being drawn tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the race goes and he gains entry.
Cadet Corps - PMM Breeze 02.23.25
Cadet Corps (6-Year-Old Gelding)
Date: February 23, 2025
Track: PALM MEADOWS TRAINING CENTER
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 48:80 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast

Lisa’s Palace is well out of her last race and was entered today for a sprint race next Thursday night at Penn National. The race is not confirmed yet, but we will keep you updated once we get the final entries.
Cali Heat is well out of his race although he was a bit tired after giving it his all but getting nosed out for second last Thursday night at Penn National. He has responded well in the following days and we are targeting a race for him on Friday March 21st at Penn.
Outlaw Country is doing great down at Palm Meadows after resuming training with Kelly Breen who had him galloping in company yesterday with another horse coming off a Winter layup. He had them “pick it up” for the last ¼ mile, down the stretch drive (see the link below to view). It was not an official workout, and even after increasing the pace, they still weren’t breezing, but it was the next step in OC’s training, and he responded well, and has come out of that workout doing great! Back to galloping this week, but if the weather holds, we will likely see Outlaw Country get his first breeze back in training this weekend. If all continues to go well there is a turf sprint option for him near the end of March that is a possibility.
Outlaw Country - Palm Meadows 02.23.25
Red Head Italian has enjoyed her time at Sunset Meadow Farm and we have scheduled a visit to see her on Saturday March 8th before she returns to Laurel Park to resume training with Brittany Russell. Our long range target for her is a NJ Bred Allowance on May 24th at Monmouth Park.
Our Connect / Lisa Limon filly is now a two-year-old and is doing well at Whispering Meadows Equestrian in Delaware where she has begun the breaking process. We will have some limited shares available in this filly on a first come first serve basis. If you are interested in getting more information about her, please let us know and we will put you on the list to receive updates.

Hello Kenwood Racing Family!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Sunday, August 24th and our ANNUAL KENWOOD RACING PICNIC for the NJ Bred Racing Festival at Monmouth Park! More information to follow, but you don’t want to miss this family-fun day at the track with the entire Kenwood Racing family! It’s been a bit of slower couple of weeks overall, but Kenwood Racing picked up our first win of 2025 this past Wednesday, when our 3YO homebred filly, VINO LIMONE, won a thrilling stretch drive to get her nose down first at the wire, in a Claiming sprint on the Gulfstream Park synthetic course! Congratulation to Group 96 on getting the win! Vino Limone was claimed away from us out of her winning effort, and while we wish the new connections the best of luck with her moving forward, we’ll also keep our eyes on where she ends up next! The Equibase Result Notification is below, and I have attached the Race Chart as well.
CALI HEAT is entered next Thursday, February 6th, at Penn National in a dirt sprint, and comes into the race of a bullet breeze on Monday, for his final prep for the race. His Breeze and Race Notifications are below, and here are the comments to Group 93, after the early Entry:
Hello Group 93,
Penn Nation is set to resume racing next Thursday, February 6th, and we have CALI HEAT right back in the entries that day in Race 8; a Clm5000NW3 race going 5.5-furlings on the main track. Cali Heat gets top rider Tyler Conner in the saddle, and they drew the #3 Post Position for the 9:00 PM Post Time. The slight cutback in distance should help with Cali Heats early speed and inside post position, so we’ll need a clean break to get early positioning. Cali Heat is 8-1 on the ML in the slight drop in class amongst a field of eight, and the horse to beat on paper is #4-Destinano, who drops in class after finding some success within Starter Allowance company in his past four starts. #6-Pentatonic has shown early speed in the past, but it doesn’t look like anyone has the same early speed as Cali Heat, so we’ll look to have him on the front end, leading the way from gate-to-wire! Jockey Tyle Conner worked Cali Heat on Tuesday this week, while laying down the bullet breeze for 4-furlongs; doing it all within himself. The Kenwood Racing team is coming off our first win of 2025 this past Wednesday, with our homebred filly Vino Limone, and we’re looking to keep it going next week with Cali Heat! I have attached the final Past Performances for your handicapping, and I’ll be in touch next Thursday, after scratches, to provide our final thoughts and information.
Our NJ Bred filly, RED HEAD ITALIAN is getting a brief 30-day break at Sunset Meadows Farm in NJ through February, as we turn our sites to the Monmouth Park Meet, and the rich NJ Bred purses that await the restricted, statebred racing! She’s been doing well out of her nice 2nd place finish in mid-January, and with no great race options in the current Condition Books, we’re going to give her a little R&R before pointing towards a NJ Bred Allowance on May 24th, with a $68,000 purse! RHI has also shown some of her best running of the turf, so we’re excited for Spring/Summer to arrive! RHI shipped up to NJ on Friday, and has settled in nicely at Sunset Meadows. We’ll make a farm visist in February to spoil her, before she heads back to training with Brittany Russell at Laurel Park in early March.
Our ARC23 mainstay and stable star, OUTLAW COUNTRY, is back in training this week at Palm Meadows with Kelly Breen and team, after a well deserved four-month layoff! OC raced for 25 straight months after his 2YO debut in September of 2022, including 27 races, 8 wins on dirt and turf, and career earnings over a quarter of a million dollars to date! OC really enjoyed his time away from the track just being a horse, but the past couple weeks he started to get his ‘feisty’ attitude back and was showing signs he was ready to make his return! All good so far, as he went back to the track for the first time on Thursday. We’ll look to get him into a race or two down in Florida, before Kelly ships north in late April/early May. Please see the attached picture of Outlaw Country and his farm dog buddy, on one of his last days in NJ!
Our homebred filly LISA’S PALACE is doing well at Penn National with Mark Salvaggio, and will be looking for a race in the next couple weeks as Penn resumes their racing next week, after a short Winter break. Her 2YO half sister, CONNECT x LISA LIMON ’23 is doing great in Delaware while getting Delaware Certified, and will begin the breaking process next week as the weather has started to clear out down there.
Finally, our ARC25 group is off to the races with their first claim yesterday, after getting outshook on a few horses over the past couple weeks down at the Gulfstream Park Championship Meet. ONE TIME WILLARD, the Stakes Placed NJ Bred had a troubled trip from start to finish yesterday, finishing 6th beaten by 5-6 lengths, but he came out of the race doing well, and we’re excited to have in the stable. We’re going to look to protect One Time Willard for the lucrative NJ Bred purses coming up this Summer, and congratulations to our ARC25 group on the first claim of the year! More to come for ARC25!
Stable Notes 01.17.24
Hi All,
Happy Friday to everyone as we kick off the weekend with back-to-back races today at Laurel Park. There is one slot still open for our ARC25 claiming program which is now officially underway. Once we claim the first horse for the group it will be closed out to any new members so if you don’t want to miss out on a lot of action throughout 2025 with multiple horses racing at East Coast Tracks, be sure to contact us ASAP before the final shares are taken!
Lisa’s Palace is entered in Race 1 today at Laurel Park (see details below and pp’s attached above). She will have Tyler Conner in the irons going 1 & 1/16 miles on the main track. They will leave from the outside post in this seven- horse field on the track where Lisa has won 3 races out of 8 tries. She had a nice breeze on Jan 11th to prepare for this race (see below). Scott’s race day comments are below. Good luck to all Group 95 ARC25 members, partner Kelly Breen and Trainer Mark Salvaggio.
Good Morning ARC24,
It’s a beautiful Winter day in the Northeast today, and LISA’S PALACE will kick things off at Laurel Park today in Race 1, Post Time at 12:25 PM. She shipped down early this morning and settled in nicely, per Mark Salvaggio. Jockey Tyler Conner is making the trip down for the mount today, and Lisa’s Palace is coming into the race doing great. She has the favorable outside post positions in a shorter field of seven runners, with no scratches. There should be enough early speed for LP to track from the outside, but she also has enough speed to not get hung wide into the first turn and save ground. As always, she will need to break cleanly, but hopefully she can pull off the upset at her 8-1 ML odds today! She’s been ready to run, and fingers crossed
Lisa's Palace (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: January 11, 2025
Track: PENN NATIONAL
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 48:41 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 4/54

Red Head Italian will be next up in Race 2 at Laurel today going 6 furlongs in a full field of ten (see details below and pp’s attached above). She has had two nice works including a bullet on Jan. 11th in preparation for this race. Top rider Sheldon Russell will be aboard for his wife Brittany in a bid to get RHI back to the Winner’s Circle where they are currently 2nd choice at 4-1. Scott’s pre- race comments are below. Good luck to all Group 91 Members and our partner RJR Racing.
RACE DAY for RED HEAD ITALIAN down at Laurel Park in Race 2; Post Time around 12:55 PM! She’s coming into the race training great, out of her disappointing effort in the step up to Starter Allowance company last out and gets to stay at home and race over the track she runs on daily; it also helps that she broke her maiden over this surface. Trainer Brittany Russell names her husband, Sheldon Russell to the mount, who is one of the top riders on the Maryland circuit. RHI is in good hands today and hopefully gets a clean break to showcase her early speed. RHI will break from the middle of a full field, with only one scratch in the race, with eleven runners signed on. She is the second choice on ML at 4-1 odds, and should see some pressure early just to her outside from #6-Sweet Honey Bee. Hopefully, she doesn’t need to use too much energy early before she can settle in to conserve energy for a late run down the stretch. She is coming off a bullet breeze at 3-furlongs last weekend, and we’re looking for that same speed today!
Red Head Italian (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: January 11, 2025
Track: LAUREL PARK
Distance: Three Furlongs
Time: 37:00 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 1/11

Red Head Italian (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: January 4, 2025
Track: LAUREL PARK
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 50:00 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 5/33

Vino Limone is well after her 2nd place finish at Gulfstream Park on January 2nd. Trainer Kelly Breen likes how she has responded following the race and feels that she is ready to run right back so we have been looking for a spot for her ASAP.
Cali Heat is well out of his race and we are looking to get him back to the races on February 6th the first day that Penn Reopens after a quick 30 day planned track closure.
Outlaw Country is enjoying his time at Sunset Meadow Farm and will be getting ready to ship to Palm Meadows to resume training shortly.
Our Connect / Lisa Limon filly is well at Whispering Meadows Equestrian in Delaware (see attached photo taken this morning by Scott and comment below from Elizabeth at the farm below). They will begin the breaking process with her in a week or two.
"I'm so in LOVE with your Lisa/Limon filly. Best temperament. I walked her out in the snow and she was overwhelmed; went straight up in the air came down and stood still. Most babies as you know would have taken it further. But she just needed a moment and reassurance and she was PERFECT. I would take a barn full of her exact personality. She's so smart. Thank you!" -Elizabeth
Stable Notes - 1/2/25
Hi All,
Happy 2025 to everyone as we kick off the new year with races in back-to-back days starting today at Gulfstream Park. There are still two slots open for our ARC25 claiming program which is now officially underway. Once we claim the first horse for the group it will be closed out to any new members so if you don’t want to miss out on a lot of action throughout 2025 with multiple horses racing at East Coast Tracks, be sure to contact us ASAP before the final shares are taken!
Vino Limone is entered in Race 6 today going one mile and seventy yards on the synthetic Tapeta surface (see details below and pp’s attached above. She has been training very well (see latest breeze from December 21st below) and should be ready to go for this race. Scott’s race day analysis is below.
|
We are hoping VINO LIMONE can kick-off our 2025 in style, as she runs today in Race 6 at Gulfstream Park – a 1 Mile & 70 Yds route on the Synthetic surface, with a Post Time at 3:00 PM. With an initial field of nine runners, there has been a scratch of the longshot #3-Money Bouquet, so Vino Limone will break from Post Position #6 in a field of eight 3YO fillies: all looking for their second win, lifetime. She is 5-1 on the ML, with the favorite just to her outside in #7-Bugged Out (3-1 ML). Vino Limone is just one of two runners to be trying the synthetic surface for the first time, along with #9- Sevilla, and both are stretching out to two turns for the first time. #2-Chine Blue is coming off her Maiden breaking win last out, when she tried two turns on the Synthetic for the first time and came from off the pace to break her maiden. There is not a lot of early speed signed on, but #4-Sorority Bird, #1-Blinging Burr and #7-Bugged Out have all shown early foot in past races and should help set the early pace. While Vino Limone has speed, she likes to settle off the pace, and jockey Edgar Zayas will need to break cleanly and hopefully save some ground into the first time, so they don’t get caught wide early; thus, losing ground, or using too much energy to keep up. We’re in good hands with one of South Florida’s top jockeys, and Vino Limone will run on Lasix for the first time today as a freshly turned 3YO. She is bred to like the turf, and while the Synthetic surface is still a bit of a question mark, her family is proven in two turn races as well; so hopefully she can take a step forward today with the drop in class. It’s a wide-open race on paper, and fingers crossed for a clean break and trip! Good luck to all Group members and Kenwood Partners! |
Vino Limone (2-Year-Old Filly)
Date: December 21, 2024
Track: PALM MEADOWS TRAINING CENTER
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 49:00 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 25/68

Cali Heat is entered in Race 5 tomorrow night at Penn National with top rider Jomar Torres going 6 furlongs on the main track (see details below and pp’s attached above). After his planned race last Thursday night was cancelled, he had a maintenance work on Friday morning and is primed to run well tomorrow night. Scott’s pre-race comments are below.
We have lucked out from the unfortunate cancellation of last Thursday’s card at Penn National and have CALI HEAT right back in the entries for this Friday, January 3rd! It’s the same race that was carded on Thursday, but now we have Jomar Torres back in the irons to try and avenge their defeat last out. This time, Cali Heat draws inside in the #2-Post Position which certainly changes some things with race strategy. There is not as much early speed signed on with this full field of nine runners, but the favorite #6-Prom Knight, is the same controlling speed and the gate-to-wire winner last out, over a sloppy track. #8-Hoylake also brings early speed shipping in from Charles Town where he has won his last two races. Breaking from the inside, Jomar and Cali Heat may have to go early to maintain positioning, but it will all come down to a clean break. He has the early speed to keep pace, but is also capable of sitting off the pace if he can keep positioning early, without using too much effort. Weather looks good, but cold, later this week, and we’ll follow up Friday morning after scratches, with final thoughts.
Cali Heat (3-Year-Old Gelding)
Date: December 27, 2024
Track: PENN NATIONAL
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 51:50 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 42/50

Lisa’s Palace was entered for a race yesterday afternoon at Penn National, but the entire card was cancelled due to the high winds. There are a couple of possibilities at the end of next week for her of course weather permitting. We will keep you posted once the races are carded.
Red Head Italian is fine with Trainer Brittany Russell at Laurel Park in Maryland and we are looking at a race for her near the middle of the month.
Outlaw Country is enjoying his time at Sunset Meadow Farm and will be getting ready to ship to Palm Meadows to resume training in a week or two.
Our Connect / Lisa Limon filly is well at Whispering Meadows Equestrian in Delaware.
Stable Notes - December 19, 2024
Hi All,
With the year rapidly coming to an end we wish the entire Kenwood Family Very Happy Holidays and look forward to 2025 for more exciting racing action from the horses in our stable. There are still a couple of slots open for our ARC25 claiming program which will get underway directly after New Year’s Day. If you don’t want to miss out on a lot of action throughout 2025 with multiple horses racing at East Coast Tracks, be sure to contact us ASAP before the final shares are taken!
Calming Sea will be racing today in a little over one hour in Race 2 at Gulfstream Park. Scott’s pre-race comments are below.
It’s race day for CALMING SEA in Race 2 at Gulfstream Park today, Post Time at 12:52 PM! A cutback in distance to a 5.5-furlong sprint on the synthetic track, She will get some weight relief with the apprentice jockey, Micah Husbands in the irons! Calming Sea drew the outside Post Position #9 in a field of nine and gets an ideal post position for Micah to read and react out of the gate. They’ll need to use her natural speed to not get caught too wide into the turn, but we’ll see if there is enough early speed signed on to end up with a pace duel on the front end. If not, we’ll likely see them look to get to the lead early, but if there is a speed duel up front, they will look to sit back off the pace and let the speed come back to them around the far turn, turning for home. Calming Sea will have her work cut out for her with two big favorites - #3-Warda at 8-5 on the ML, and #6-Bubbly Champagne sitting at 9-5 odds - but she came out of her last race in good order and has continued to train well. She gets the addition of blinkers today to help keep her a bit more focused and controllable, and she has shown some improvement the past week in the mornings when wearing them. We are hoping she can get back to her form from earlier this year down at Gulfstream Park, especially some of her synthetic races where she showed speed and stamina. Good luck to ARC24, our partner Kelly Breen and all Kenwood Racing Partners, as we look to get Calming Sea into the Winner’s Circle before the end of the year!
Cali Heat is entered right back in the same race off his 3rd Place finish last out, running next Thursday, December 26th at Penn National in Race 5. Post Time is 8:11 PM for the 6-furlong sprint, and jockey Angel Rodriguez will be back in the saddle to try and get back to the Winner's Circle again with Cali Heat!
Lisa’s Palace has continued to progress well with Trainer Mark Salvaggio after her 2nd place finish two weeks ago. We are targeting a race for December 27th for her with entries drawn tomorrow.
Vino Limone is well at Palm Meadows and had a maintenance breeze last Saturday (see details below) as we continue to find a race for her at Gulfstream Park.
Vino Limone (2-Year-Old Filly)
Date: December 14, 2024
Track: PALM MEADOWS TRAINING CENTER
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 49:15 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 42/76

Red Head Italian is fine with Trainer Brittany Russell at Laurel Park in Maryland and we are looking for a race for her at that venue in the coming weeks.
Outlaw Country is enjoying his time at Sunset Meadow Farm and has been in a festive holiday mood based on the picture attached above.
Our Connect / Lisa Limon filly is well at Whispering Meadows Equestrian in Delaware.
Stable Notes - December 6, 2024
Hi All,
A quick update before another busy night of racing with two entries back to back tonight. We will be rolling out the ARC25 claiming program with an online presentation set for 7pm on Thursday December 12th. For those who are interested and have not responded yet please let us know so that you will be added to the list to receive the invite. We will be claiming horses beginning in the New Year at Gulfstream Park through the end of the 2025 Monmouth Race Meet. This is a limited opportunity since there will be no more than 15 slots available. If you want to be in the game for 2025 let us know ASAP!
Red Head Italian made is entered tonight in Race 5 at Penn National going 6 furlongs on the main track with Jevian Toledo, who made the trip from Maryland, aboard to try to make it two wins in a row (see details below and pp’s attached above). She is currently the 5/2 favorite in a full field of 10. Good luck to all Group 91 members and Trainer Brittany Russell.
Lisa’s Palace is entered in Race 6 tonight Friday December 6th at Penn National (see details below and pp’s attached above. She draws the outside post in a 7- horse field going a flat mile. Inoel Beato will ride in a fairly evenly matched field with six horses 5-1 of less. Good luck to Group 95 ARC24, partner Kelly Breen and Trainer Mark Salvaggio.
Cali Heat is entered next Wednesday December 11th in Race 5 at Penn National (see details below). Jomar Torres will be in the irons going six furlongs in a bid for two wins in a row. Details to follow next week.
Vino Limone is well out of her 3rd place finish at Gulfstream Park last week and we will be looking for a race for her soon.
Calming Sea also fine out of her race and will be ready to run again in the coming weeks.
Outlaw Country is enjoying his time at Sunset Meadow Farm getting plenty of time outside in the paddock. We will be scheduling a visit to see him in the near future.
Our Connect / Lisa Limon filly has arrived at Whispering Meadows Equestrian in Delaware and will start the breaking process in a week or so.
