Hi All,
Happy Labor Day, we have a race today at Monmouth Park and are still feeling good about our racing Triple on Thursday August 21st where three runners at two different tracks all won within 30 minutes of each other. Since Memorial Day weekend the Stable has a running line of 18 starts with 9 Wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds for a Winning percentage of 50% and 89% in the money. Congratulations to all Kenwood Partners & Group members and Trainers Kelly Breen and Mark Salvaggio. We also had a great day for all who attended our Annual picnic on Sunday August 24th at Monmouth Park. Thanks to all who contributed to this successful event and especially the wonderful cookies that Group Members Meral and Antonio brought for the occasion (see attached picture above).
Outlaw Country is entered today in Race 4 at Monmouth Park going 5 ½ furlongs on the turf with Paco Lopez aboard (see pp’s attached above and details below). He is currently the morning line favorite at 3-1 in a field of nine after one scratch.

Cadet Corps and One Time Willard won back-to-back Claiming Crown Preview Races at Colonial Downs on Thursday August 21st with Paco Lopez guiding them both to victory (see link to article in the Racing Biz below and result charts and a picture of the horses and trophies they won above). Congratulations to our ARC25 Group 97 and Trainer - Partner Kelly Breen. Scott’s post-race comments.
CNL: Paco Lopez wins four Claiming Crown Preview races * The Racing Biz
CONGRATULATIONS!! I’m almost speechless over the way our horses ran down at Colonial Downs, with CADET CORPS and ONE TIME WILLARD sweeping the TOP TWO Claiming Crown Preview Day Qualifiers at Colonial Downs to get their pictures taken!! Both wins earned automatic entries, and $2,000 shipping stipends, into their respective Claiming Crown races on November 15th at Churchill Downs – ‘The Emerald’ for Willard, worth $175,000, and ‘The Jewel’ for Cadet Corps, carrying a $225,000 purse, because of a $25,000 Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund (KTDF) bonus for Kentucky Breds, which Cadet Corps is! It’s was an exciting day, or 30-40 minutes to be exact, and I could not be more thrilled for all of you, and our Kenwood Racing Partners! We were also able to win an Allowance race at Penn National in between these two wins, making for an extra special day overall! To add to the excitement, Kenwood was awarded trophies for the wins today
Cali Heat also came up big winning and allowance race at Penn National in between the two races at Colonial Downs on the 21st see attached chart above). Unfortunately, he suffered a stress fracture in his right sesamoid bone and has been retired from racing. He is now at Sunset Meadow Farm on the recovery trail for a second career as a riding horse. See Scott’s post-race comments below.
With the race getting taken off the grass, we knew there would be some scratches, but a field of eight ended up a field of 3 at Post Time, and CALI HEAT proved his 1-5 favoritism in front-running style, winning his first level Allowance race and helping secure a Kenwood sweep yesterday of all three races we had runners in! It was a memorable day to say the least, and it was another strong effort from Cali Heat, who broke alertly and took command from the start of the race. Jockey David Cora knew he had horse, so when Cali Heat was prompted turning for him, there was plenty left in the tank for Cali Heat to secure back-to-back wins and improving his 2025 record to 10:4-1-4, with over $67,000 in gross purse earnings; and sitting just shy of $100,000 in career earnings!
After multiple x-rays have revealed a minor stress fracture of Cali Heat’s right sesamoid bone, a non life-threatening injury in this case, we have come to the painstaking decision to retire CALI HEAT to a second career. He will require about a year of layup, including a few months of strict stall rest, but we consulted with multiple surgeons on this one, and the prognosis is excellent to be someone’s recreational rider!
Speed Figures was a strong second on Saturday August 23rd with Melissa Iorio in the saddle. We are very happy with his performance so far off the claim in late July and are looking for more good things to come from this young gelding. Scott’s post-race comments are below.
Well, we can’t win them all! SPEED FIGURES ran another big race yesterday on the front end, setting FAST fractions early, but just couldn’t hold off the late surge from the winner, to settle for a game 2nd Place finish against tough Allowance field! It was another strong effort from our new claim, off of short rest, and we’re excited for what the future holds for this Florida Bred. He came out of the race in a good order albeit a little more tired than his previous races. After running three races in four weeks, with two wins and a 2nd, Speed Figures has deserved a nice a little break! We’ll wait to see the Meadowlands Condition Book before making any decisions on his next target race, but he kept the second level Allowance Condition and we’ll look for that similar race coming back at the Meadowlands. Quite the week for ARC25 after two wins on Thursday, and a solid 2nd place yesterday, as the stable continues to stay hot!
Red Head Italian has returned to Kelly Breen’s barn and resumed training after a short break at Sunset Meadow Farm. She has been galloping well and will have a breeze sometime shortly. We are hoping to get her in a race before the meet closes on September 14th or right after at the Meadowlands.
Lisa Connects continues to train forwardly for her racetrack debut. She had another good breeze yesterday and should be ready for her debut in the coming weeks.
