Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for February 21, 2021

Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Brynbella is well out of her race, see her the morning after in this photo.  Also, with great thanks to Sergio at Hidden Brook Farm where she was bred, there are photos of her as a newborn, weanling and yearling below.  Hoping for good things to come from this young filly.
  • Fire's Finale is already in training with Kelly Breen at Palm Meadows looking to get back into racing early this spring.
  • Adhwaa will be entered today for a 1 Mile Starter Allowance at Aqueduct on Friday.
  • Dahlonega is entered for an Allowance Optional Claiming Race on Thursday at Gulfstream Park for a large purse of 44K.  This is a step up for her and since the race we were looking at for her at the previous level did not go, Kelly felt that rather than sitting in the barn when she is ready to run we would give her a shot in this small but super competitive field.
  • Blu Candy is entered for a Maiden Claiming Race on Friday at Penn National. This is an ideal spot for her with a short field and fairly weak competition
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy will be entered today for a Starter Allowance race on Friday at Gulfstream Park. A great spot for her if the race finally goes.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for February 18, 2021

February 19, 2021 at 7:37 am • By Anonymous

Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Brynbella a nice 3 year old filly was claimed today off a good effort at Gulfstream Park this afternoon.  She came back very well and should prove to be a good horse for the Monmouth Park Meet.
  • Fire's Finale shipped this morning to trainer Kelly Breen's barn at Palm Meadows and arrived well and will continue training towards his 3YO debut.  He was also mentioned in the most recent Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred magazine with his dam Exchanging Fire.  He was her last foal sadly after her passing shortly after his birth.
  • Adhwaa came back fine from her recent “non-dead heat” at Aqueduct and we will be looking to enter her for a race at the end of next week against similar company.
  • Dahlonega will be entered tomorrow for a race next Wednesday at Gulfstream Park.
  • Blu Candy is doing well off her debut at Penn National and will run at a longer distance in early March.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy is fine out of her recent race at Gulfstream Park where she missed the break and will be entered tomorrow for a Starter Allowance race next Wednesday.
  • Life On the Edge is steadily progressing and should be ready to run after 2 or 3 more workouts.  The details from her most recent breeze at Belmont Park are below.

Life On the Edge (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: February 12, 2021
Track: BELMONT PARK
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 49:98 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt training
Rank: 13/45

  • Fightress came out of her recent race at Gulfstream Park in good shape and should be ready to run back in a few weeks.
  • Seven Seven is now training at Belmont Park with trainer Kelly Breen's assistant John.  The plan is to have him ready to run in early spring.
  • Pango continues to do well in Ocala with Nick de Meric and is scheduled to ship to trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn National in March to be ready to go as soon as turf season starts in the Northeast.
  • Lisa Limon is getting closer to her due date in Kentucky, in foal to Palace Malice.  Her yearling colt by Liam's Map is also doing well -- very much a case of no news is good news with him.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for February 11, 2021

Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Fightress was claimed on Monday at Gulfstream Park, a race in which this 5YO mare proved she can run on dirt as well as turf.  She came out of her winning effort well and is now in Kelly Breen's barn at Palm Meadows.  We're looking to run her back shortly.
  • Adhwaa just missed 2nd at Aqueduct by the slimmest of margins on Monday, after closing strongly in the lane.  There's a similar race for her at the end of the month with added distance that we'll target now.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy's race at Gulfstream Park did not go according to plan on Wednesday, as she really needs to be in front to run her race and unfortunately she missed the break.  There are a lot of ways to lose a horse race, and only one way to win, and this was all about the trip. The chart shows all you need to know.  She came back fine after the race and will be ready to run again in a few weeks.
  • Blu Candy is fine out of her recent debut effort at Penn National and is targeting a next start at the end of this month or early March.
  • Life On the Edge continues to progress at Belmont Park and will be ready to run soon.

Life On the Edge (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: February 5, 2021
Track: BELMONT PARK
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 49:90 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt training
Rank: 44/81

  • Fire's Finale is scheduled to ship to trainer Kelly Breen's barn at Palm Meadows next week.  Everything is going well with him.
  • Pango continues to train in Ocala with Nick de Meric, and is scheduled to ship to trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn National in March to be ready to go as soon as turf season starts in the Northeast.
  • Seven Seven arrived at Belmont Park this week and is settling in well there (see photo).
  • Dahlonega is doing well after our recent claim at Gulfstream Park, and trainer Kelly Breen will be looking for a race for her soon.
  • LISA LIMON is just about a month away from her due date for her Palace Malice foal.  Looking forward to another healthy and sound baby.   Her Liam's Map yearling colt is also doing fine.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for February 4, 2021

February 5, 2021 at 7:07 am • By Anonymous

Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Dahlonega came out of her race at Gulfstream Park well, and has settled into trainer Kelly Breen's barn at Palm Meadows.  We'll be looking for a race for her towards the end of the month.
  • Blu Candy is doing fine out of her first race at Penn National on Wednesday.  It was good to get a race under her belt, and we're looking forward to getting her back out by the end of the month or early March.
  • Adhwaa was entered today for a starter allowance race on Super Bowl Sunday at Aqueduct. She gets a top rider in Trevor McCarthy and this 7 horse field is a nice spot and a good test.  We will need to keep an eye on the weather for possible changes or a cancellation.
  • Life On the Edge is doing well with trainer Kelly Breen at Belmont Park, and continues to train back into racing shape. Weather permitting she may be ready for a race in a few weeks.
  • Seven Seven ships in the next day or two to Kelly Breen's barn at Belmont Park, given that the weather has closed the track at Overbrook Farm.  He is feeling super and ready to get back into training.  Here is a photo of him enjoying the recent snow at Sunset Meadow Farm.
  • Fire's Finale is doing great and continues to train forwardly at Nick deMeric's farm in Ocala.  He will be sent to Kelly at Palm Meadows in about 2 weeks.
  • Pango is also doing well in Ocala at Nick deMeric's, according to whom Pango "seems happy to be back in work."  He should ship to Mark Salvaggio at Penn around March 1st to prepare for the first turf races of the spring.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy has been entered for Saturday at Gulfstream in the Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes.  The race drew an 8-horse field and is a similar spot to the stakes where she was third last time out.  She may also be entered in an allowance race tomorrow and then we will decide which option is best for her.  If you want to attend the race we can make arrangements for seating-dining.
  • LISA LIMON and her Liam's Map colt are doing well at Hidden Brook Farm in Kentucky.  She's due to deliver her Palace Malice foal in about another month before being bred back to Bolt d'Oro. Here is an article highlighting Liam's Map's success so far as a stallion, which bodes well for Lisa Limon's colt's future.

We are still actively pursuing additional horses through claims at Gulfstream Park and hope to add more horses to the Kenwood Racing stable in the coming weeks. Please check your email frequently for any new offerings.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for January 28, 2021

January 29, 2021 at 7:47 am • By Anonymous

Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Dahlonega is our newest addition to the stable after we claimed her Wednesday at Gulfstream Park. This honest and versatile daughter of Adios Charlie is a Florida-bred and will be eligible for state bred purse money while she is in Florida with Kelly Breen.
  • Blu Candy is entered for her long-awaited debut on February 3rd at Penn National for trainer Mark Salvaggio.  We knew when we purchased her that it would take some time to get her ready for the races, and this 7-horse field is a good spot to get her started.
  • Adhwaa is doing well out of her win last week, and is targeting an allowance race on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th, at Aqueduct for her next start.
  • Life On the Edge  had an easy breeze by design last Friday as she continues to work her way back into racing shape.  If all goes well, hopefully we'll be looking at a start toward the end of February.

Life On the Edge (4-Year-Old Filly)
Date: January 22, 2021
Track: BELMONT PARK
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 51:66 Breezing
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt training
Rank: 63/65

  • Seven Seven continues to do well at Sunset Meadow Farm where he has access to a paddock rather than being stuck in the shedrow at Overbrook Farm.  With some winter weather forecasted this weekend, we are hoping the track at Overbrook will be ready for him to ship in the middle of next week.
  • Fire's Finale is working towards getting back into racing shape at Nick de Meric's farm in Ocala.  Nick reports that he is doing well.
  • Pango is also doing well in Ocala and Nick de Meric is pleased with his progress as he works his way back into racing fitness and turf racing in the Northeast this spring
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy had a nice half-mile breeze last Friday as she continues to target the Ladies Sprint Stakes on February 6th at Gulfstream Park.  It is a very similar race to the Abundantia Stakes in which she came in a very strong 3rd last time out to become stakes placed.

Tracy Ann's Legacy (5-Year-Old Mare)
Date: January 22, 2021
Track: PALM MEADOWS TRAINING CENTER
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 51:05 Breezing
Track Condition: Firm
Surface: Turf

Rank: 25/40

  • LISA LIMON and her just-turned yearling by Liam's Map are doing well in Kentucky.  Liam's Map had his third Grade 1 winner this past weekend when Colonel Liam scored impressively in the Grade 1 Pegasus Turf at Gulfstream (read article), which is great news for our colt’s future value.  Lisa Limon is due to have her 2nd foal in March, by the top sire Palace Malice, and is booked back to the exciting young stallion Bolt d'Oro.

We are still actively pursuing additional horses through claims at Gulfstream Park and hope to add more horses to the Kenwood Racing stable in the coming weeks. Please check your email frequently for any new offerings.

Kenwood Racing Weekly Horse Update

  • Blu Candy  is doing well at Penn National with Mark Salvaggio, and scheduled to have a gate work tomorrow.  Assuming she comes out of that well, there are races on Feb 3rd and Feb 5th in the condition book that fit for her debut.  Mark is happy with her.
  • Adhwaa won impressively last Sunday at Aqueduct, drawing off by 4 lengths and earning almost as much from this one victory as we paid for her.  She's doing well out of the race according to trainer Kelly Breen.
  • Life On the Edge  is doing well at Belmont Park, and scheduled to breeze again soon as she continues to progress towards her return to the races.  If all goes well, hopefully we'll be looking at a start toward the end of February.
  • Seven Seven continues to do well at Sunset Meadow Farm, and is just awaiting clearance to ship to Overbrook Farm.  As soon as they're ready for him to ship there, he will.
  • Fire's Finale returned to training on Monday with Nick deMeric in Ocala after his well-deserved rest.  You can see some photos and a video of him here.  Nick said he is feeling great.
  • Pango is also doing well in Ocala after returning to the track on Monday following his vacation and will continue to train for the opening of turf season here in the Northeast.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy is doing well at Palm Meadows Training Center with Kelly Breen.  She has been nominated to the Ladies Sprint Stakes on Feb 6th at Gulfstream Park.  It is a very similar race to the Abundantia Stakes in which she came in a very strong 3rd and became stakes placed.
  • LISA LIMON and her just-turned yearling by Liam's Map are doing well in Kentucky. She is due to have her 2nd foal in March by the top sire Palace Malice, and is booked back to the exciting young stallion Bolt d'Oro.  Here is a video of her Liam's Map colt walking at the farm. Everyone at Hidden Brook farm is impressed with him and say that he is the best looking yearling there.

We are actively pursuing additional horses via claim or private purchase and are looking forward to attending the March OBS for the 2 year old sales with the goal of adding some new young talent to our stable.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for January 15, 2021

Horse by Horse News

  • Blu Candy is training at Penn National with Mark Salvaggio, and had a good half-mile breeze on Tuesday.  She's scheduled to have a gate work next week, and assuming she comes out of that well, there are races on Feb 3rd or Feb 5th that will fit her for her debut.
  • Adhwaa is entered in the 2nd race at Aqueduct on Sunday, Jan 17th (see our entries page for more details).  This is a good spot for her and if she fires and gets a good trip she should be very competitive.  We will hopefully get lucky in that there is rain forecast for tomorrow, but then it's supposed to be windy enough to dry the track out for her race Sunday.
  • Life On the Edge had a good 3-furlong workout this morning at Belmont ParkThis was her second work since resuming training and she responded well to being asked for a little more.  Here is a link to the video Kelly Breen sent us. She is on the outside.
  • Seven Seven is scheduled to ship back to Overbrook Farm to begin training on a track in the middle of next week.  He was actually ready to come in this week but weather delays put it off a few days. Reports from Jeannie at Sunset Meadow Farm are that “he's doing well, feeling great, and training himself out in the field.”
  • Fire's Finale is doing well in Ocala and scheduled to return to training next week with Nick de Meric. He’ll get a few weeks training at the farm with Nick, then ship into Kelly Breen and if all goes well he should be ready in early spring for a race at Gulfstream Park before shipping north.
  • Pango is doing well in Ocala and also will begin training on Monday with his target being turf season in the Northeast.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy is doing well at Palm Meadows Trainiing Center with Kelly Breen.  She is being pointed to the Ladies Sprint Stakes on Feb 6th at Gulfstream Park.  It is a very similar race to the Abundantia Stakes in which she come in a very strong 3rd and became stakes placed. There is also the possibility of an allowance race if one comes up before the stake. What a great place we are in with a filly we claimed for just $22,000 last summer!
  • LISA LIMON and her just-turned yearling by Liam's Map are doing well in Kentucky. She is due to have her 2nd foal in March by the top sire Palace Malice, and is booked back to the exciting young stallion Bolt d'Oro.

General News

New Groups coming….  It’s a new year and we are hot on the trail of new horses! We put in a claim for a horse on Wednesday at Gulfstream Park, but we were one of six groups in on the horse and did not win the shake.  This is not unexpected at Gulfstream Park where there is a lot of claiming activity, especially for the promising horses.  We will be ready to try again next time a good option arises and expect to come out of the Gulfstream Park meet with several horses for racing at Monmouth Park this summer.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for January 1, 2021

January 1, 2021 at 8:29 pm • By Robb Levinsky

Horse by Horse News

  • Tracy Ann's Legacy is now stakes placed after a very game 3rd in the Abundantia stakes today at Gulfstream Park. Sent off at 14 to 1 against an exceptionally tough 10 horse field, she broke sharply but had to battle head to head with another runner which clearly cost her 2nd and probably the win. After she gamely put her away at the top of the stretch she continued to battle hard, being passed by the eventual winner in deep stretch and the 2nd horse right at the wire, beaten just ½ length for 2nd in an incredibly game effort. With two allowance wins, a 4th in a stake against males at Monmouth Park despite a slow break and her race today she's already earned 3 times her purchase price. There are similar stakes at Gulfstream in the first week of February and March to look forward to, and a repeat of this effort should be enough to win stakes at Monmouth Park – Laurel Park – Parx – Delaware Park this summer. Claimed for just $22,000 at Monmouth Park last July, we will end up with a very nice profit with her and we think the best is yet to come. Congratulations to the entire Kenwood Racing team and especially all her owners, what a way to start the new year!
  • Adhwaa gets in just the spot we were looking for at Aqueduct next week, a starter allowance event with a very large $55,000 purse. Of course not an easy spot but she’s earned a shot off her impressive maiden win at Laurel and an excellent work coming into this race. Whatever she does here she should have lots of opportunities to win for us this winter in NY-Pa.-Md. but we expect a good effort from her as a new year gets underway.

  • Life On the Edge  good at Belmont Park. She’s trained well all week and will breeze in early January. She should be running in New York this winter for some very nice purses.
  • Blu Candy is back in training at Penn National, trained easily for two days now. If all goes well Mark can gallop her for 10-14 days, breeze her once or twice, and look for a race for her debut. She is as explained from the get go bred to mature and we’ve given her a ton of time and patience in hopes she’ll be a nice horse for us.
  • Seven Seven is expected to ship to Overbrook farm shortly, once the weather-track there improves enough to let him get some training in. He’s doing excellent in his final days of R&R at Sunset Meadow Farm.
  • Pango well and happy in Ocala at de Meric farm. He’s getting turnout in a nice paddock now, then daily swimming for about 30 days, and then will go back into training with the goal of having him fit and ready to return to trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn by the end of the winter and ready to run when the first turf races appear in the northeast next spring. He had a terrific year for us, ending with two straight impressive wins, and we are looking forward to another big year with him in 2021.
  • Fire's Finale is doing great in Ocala enjoying a richly deserved bit of R&R. A little turnout in a nice paddock now and back in training end of next month.
  • Lisa Limon and weanling by Liam’s Map both very well in Kentucky. Lisa will be bred to the very popular young sire Bolt d’Oro in 2021. An exceptionally fast and beautifully bred horse, Bolt d’Oro was bred to 214 mares in 2019 and his first foals to hit the sales ring averaged over $90,000 as weanlings this year. Lisa is due have her second foal in early March by the top sire and racehorse Palace Malice.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for December 27, 2020

December 27, 2020 at 8:05 pm • By Robb Levinsky

General News

A very happy, safe and healthy holiday season to the entire Kenwood Racing family and as always thanks for your support in 2020. It has sure been a tough year for the world but happily Kenwood Racing’s success offered a little much needed ‘diversion’ as several of our owners put it. There were cash distributions made to every member of the co-owner groups of Fire’s Finale, Tracy Ann’s Legacy and Adhwaa along with a year-end report for co-owners on all current horses-groups. Three wins from three starts this month gives us 19 wins for 2020 out of 92 starts. Kenwood Racing has been winning at a 30%+ clip for the entire second half of the year, a nearly legendary percentage for such an extended period of time. We’ve won races at tracks up and down the east coast, from claiming races at Penn National to feature allowances and stakes at Monmouth Park, Parx, and Gulfstream Park. Congratulations to trainers Kelly Breen, Mark Salvaggio and Ron Spatz and the members of our Kenwood Racing family. May 2021 be a year of renewal for the world and even more success for Kenwood Racing. Look for news on new horses-groups early in the new year!

 Horse by Horse News

  • All good horse news to begin the new year... Tracy Ann's Legacy gets post #4 in the 11th and final race of the day in a large and super-competitive Abundantia Stakes on January 1st at Gulfstream Park. She had a nice little maintenance breeze and is fresh and ready, having earned her way here off an impressive wire to wire win in the opening day feature at this track. Tracy Ann has had a terrific career with 8 wins, 6 seconds and 3 thirds from 21 career starts and lifetime earnings over $225,000 to date. Claimed for just $22,000 at Monmouth in July, she’s earned several times that for us already and whatever happens here we think the best is yet to come with her.

  • Adhwaa had a nice little maintenance work at Belmont Park. She’s ready to run back and there are a couple of spots to enter her in this week at Aqueduct and Parx. Off her impressive maiden win at Laurel Park this month we think she’s going to be a nice horse for us this winter racing for large purses in NY – Pa. - Md.  The ideal spot would be a starter allowance at Aqueduct for a huge $55,000 purse if the race goes.

  • Life On the Edge arrived safely at Belmont Park from Overbrook training center last Sunday. She’s trained well all week and will breeze in early January. She should be running in New York this winter for some very nice purses.
  • Blu Candy is scheduled to return to training this week, we have a van lined up to take her to Mark Salvaggio at Penn National Tuesday. She did really well at the farm and we are sending her back after just a couple of weeks rest so she doesn’t lose much fitness.
He’s getting turnout in a nice paddock now, then daily swimming for about 30 days, and then will go back into training with the goal of having him fit and ready to return to trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn National by the end of the winter and ready to run when the first turf races appear in the northeast next spring.
