  • Fire's Finale couldn’t have run harder or better this evening in a very tough allowance event at Penn National, finishing a very game 2nd, beaten about 1 length for the win while over 5 lengths ahead of the rest of the field. He sat a dream trip in 3rd under jockey Tyler Connor, made a sustained run in the stretch but just couldn’t get by the equally game winner, who withstood an early speed battle and refused to lose. The race was run in a sizzling fast time, 1:10.12 and showed Fire’s Finale is able to compete against quality horses in fast run races. It was very similar to the game 2nd he ran last time against state breds at Penn except this was tougher open company not restricted to state breds). While we all want to see him back in the winner’s circle, he’s in great form now and at this level as a Pa. bred picks up nice checks anytime he hits the board (almost $7,000 here for 2nd).
  • Life On the Edge is shipping back from Penn National to Monmouth Park with Fire’s Finale this evening to run in a race on Saturday, September 18th. If the race does not go, we’ll have to return her to Penn National for a race there the following week, but we know her owners want to see her run at Monmouth Park where she had so much success last year and we are hoping the race goes for her on the 18th. If she runs well there she can stick around to run at The Meadowlands next month too. Turf racing gets tough to find around this time of year and she’s a better turf horse than a dirt horse, so we need to take any suitable spot we can find for her, but the goal is to run at Monmouth Park.
  • Cup of Life runs Saturday in the first race at Monmouth Park. Comes into it off two good debut efforts, beaten just a length for the win when a very game third last time. Fits well with this group and we are looking for a big race from her here.
  • The Ghost of N Y doing fine and an opportunity came up so we entered him for Sunday and the race went at Monmouth Park. It’s a large 11 horse field, but he’s trained well for this and gets top rider Jose Ferrer, who has the aggressive riding style we hope will fit this horse. The Ghost of N Y lagged early in both his starts and came running late. Hopefully Jose will get him in the game a little earlier. If Jose can do that we expect him to run well here.
  • Charge Account & Tracy Ann's Legacy will both receive a brief and richly deserved vacation at Sunset Meadow Farm, about 30-40 days turned out in a nice little paddock to enjoy the fresh air and then back to training. Both have been major success stories for us, racing hard and well for over a year now without a break in training while winning multiple allowance races and earning major $. Both came out of their recent starts none the worse for wear fortunately but both appear tired and not as sharp in their last couple of starts as they were previously. That’s a signal, especially with good, money-making winning horses like these, that they need a little freshening. This is the ideal time to do it, while the weather is good, and they should be back with Kelly Breen before the end of Oct. Anyone who would like to visit them at the farm once they arrive is welcome to contact George to make arrangements
  • Our newest horse R Goodtime Charlie training well for Group 73 and our Active Racing Group.  He has been in the money 9 out of 11 races for his career including 2 wins and we are looking forward to some good things with him.  There may be a race for him coming up on closing weekend, September 25th at Monmouth Park.
  • Overdressed ok out of her last start, another excellent effort when a fast-closing 3rd at Monmouth Park on September 4th. This super consistent filly has two thirds and a win in just a few weeks’ time since being claimed by us in July.
  • Portal One is fine out of his last race at Monmouth Park after being pulled up by Jockey Nik Juarez after feeling him take an awkward step on the Sloppy sealed track.  If all continues to go well there is a race on September 25th that he may ready for.
  • Street Facts is training well and is expected to have his first timed work since returning from the farm next week.
  • Tessa P and U Kant Whip It are doing both excellent at Penn National with trainer Mark Salvaggio.  Both should be ready for their first timed works since returning from the farm shortly also.
  • Lisa Limon and family all doing well at Hidden Brook Farm.  Her Liam’s Map Colt is ready for the September Yearling Sale and her weanling filly by Palace Malice is really thriving on the farm.
