General News

Back from the Keeneland September yearling sale and celebrating the purchase of Hip #2291, a truly striking colt by the popular young sire, champion sprinter Run Happy. This yearling’s young dam is a sister to the major multiple Stakes winner Florida One, from the family of broodmare of the year Oatsee (Dam of Preakness winner and sire Shackleford among other stakes winners). Most of all, he’s a good-looking, sound individual, raised at the famed Claiborne farm in Kentucky. This group is almost certain to sell out very quickly.

A big weekend ahead at Monmouth Park with 5 different entries over the next 2 days.  All are welcome to join us to celebrate another wonderful season on Saturday where we will have 2 private Parterre Suites all afternoon with some complimentary food and drinks (as well as our regular Clubhouse finish line Box seats).  All Group members are welcome but Please RSVP if you are planning to attend so we can arrange space for you.

Horse by Horse News

  • Life On the Edge  is entered for a turf sprint at Monmouth Park on Friday, September 24th, but will only run if the race stays on the grass, which does not seem likely with a forecast of heavy rain overnight.  If that is the case, then she will be entered Saturday for a turf race on Thursday, September 30th at Delaware Park.  She is really ready to run as you can see from her last Workout below on Sept 17th.

  • Overdressed is entered in Saturday’s 2nd Race at Monmouth Park, in an aggressive spot to try to get another win for us.  It is a 7 horse field and she is the 8/5 morning line favorite.
  • The Ghost of N Y is next up in the 4th Race at Monmouth Park.  He will be stretching out to a mile and is 8-1 on the morning line.  He has shown some good closing ability and we are hoping the extra distance does the trick.
  • R Goodtime Charlie and Portal One are both entered in the 10th Race at Monmouth Park with R Goodtime Charlie the 2-1 morning line favorite in his debut for us.

  • Street Facts had a very good timed work at Monmouth Park on Saturday, September 18th and Trainer Kelly Breen was very pleased how he is doing in all respects.   He should be ready to work from the gate in a couple of weeks to get his gate card.  Looks like if all goes well he will be ready to race in late October.

  • Fire's Finale  had a great work this morning at Monmouth Park.  Some comments from Robb, “Yes, fast, but more important easily and in hand. This horse really telegraphs how he is doing with his works (not all do). When he works quick and easily, he’s sitting on a big race. Recall last year after not winning his first 6 starts (close but no wins), he broke his maiden at Parx. We gave him time between races off the maiden win; he worked exceptionally well, came into the Pa. Nursery stakes doing super, and won going away from dead last to capture 2yo Pa. bred champion honors. We are pointing him for a $100,000 stake at Penn National the 3rd week in Oct. with a similar program and he’s right on target for a big effort. Never any guarantees in any race with any horse, but the way he’s training now he’ll come into it with a real shot.”

  • Cup of Life  is fine after her race at Monmouth Park and will work this week to get off the Vet’s list.
