• Life on the Edge had a terrific work in company this morning at Palm Meadows (work below and video here). While it was the fastest work of the day, that means very little, what matters is how she did it. Kelly said she went great, that’s the real good news, not the workout time. She was entered yesterday and today in a great spot on the grass and when the race didn’t go we opted for a dirt race that did go, so she runs Friday at Gulfstream Park.
• Pango was scratched yesterday at Gulfstream Park. It was a large, very tough field of 11 horses and torrential rains created a very sloppy, sealed track. Ron Spatz said the horse is “doing great now, as well as he’s been in weeks” and he didn’t want to risk him running on a bad track and going backwards out of a really rough race. With us, the welfare of the horse always comes first. He’s ready to run and we’ll look for the next possible spot for him. We entered him today for Friday but that race didn’t go.
• Fire’s Finale continues to train exceptionally well at Gulfstream Park. It’s obviously still early in the process and no guarantees, but so far it’s all good news with this horse. He came into this with the pedigree and the conformation to make a very nice horse and it seems after a couple works he has a good mind and the desire to be a racehorse. We certainly have reason to be looking forward to his debut, which could be towards the end of June or in early July if all keeps going this well. Expect him to have some gate work in the next couple of days.
• Lookinlikeaqueen ready to roll!  She had an absolutely super work last weekend and we entered her twice this week in races that did not go at Gulfstream Park, there’s another spot for her to enter this week. In the words of Ron Spatz “Lookinlikeaqueen worked like a queen, she went 48.3 and a decent gallop out. I was very happy with her breeze”.
• Seven Seven training strongly at Overbrook Farm in New Jersey. He’s looks absolutely great, what a strong, handsome colt. 
• New Found Treasure, Giuliana Vee and No Good Deed all well at Penn National. Like everyone we are waiting for racing to resume in the northeast. The hoped for date for racing to resume at Penn is still unknown but we’ll have them ready to run in whatever race comes up for them.
• Rapstorerocks well at Penn National. Mark Salvaggio likes what he sees so far and thinks he has a shot to do well there this summer. He should be ready to run when racing resumes at Penn.

General News

• Good racing news as Belmont Park is cleared to resume racing June 1^st. It’s a big step towards a full schedule of racing in the northeast, Monmouth Park is scheduled to begin their season July 3^rd.

• Pango was entered yesterday for Friday at Gulfstream Park and the race went.
• More really good news with Fire’s Finale, who is training exceptionally well at Gulfstream Park. He worked this morning and again we’ll let trainer Ron Spatz (exact voicemail transcription) give you the report…  “Good morning Robb I went ahead and breezed Fire’s Finale this morning before the rains came, we got a good track to work on.  I went from the ¼ pole to the wire in company with the other colt he worked with last time. They went 23.3 and on the gallop out I got 37.2 and he has a very big stride and some talent. My riders said they had to keep a little hold of him this time to keep him even with the other horse, last time it was the opposite. So he’s certainly making progress and everything else is ok. This colt is getting a little ahead of himself with these breezes, he still has work to do at the gate so that’s what we’ll focus on the next few weeks”.  It’s obviously still early in the process and no guarantees, but so far it’s all good news with this horse. He came into this with the pedigree and the conformation to make a very nice horse and it seems after a couple works he has a good mind and the desire to be a racehorse. We certainly have reason to be looking forward to his debut, which could be towards the end of June or in early July if all keeps going this well. Ron took a photo of him heading for the track this morning (see photos), he’s a much better trainer than he is a photographer but you can see the horse is thriving.
• Nice morning photo of Lookinlikeaqueen on her way to the track at Gulfstream Park (see photo).  She had an absolutely super work Saturday morning, in the words of Ron Spatz “Lookinlikeaqueen worked like a queen, she went 48.3 and a decent gallop out. • New Found Treasure, Giuliana Vee and No Good Deed all well at Penn National. New Found Treasure had an excellent easy work (below) and No Good Deed and Giuliana worked together (below). Take a look at the excellent photo Mark Salvaggio took of them coming to the wire head to head! Like everyone we are waiting for racing to resume in the northeast. The hoped for date for racing to resume at Penn is the end of this month and we’ll have them ready to run in whatever race comes up for them.
• Seven Seven training strongly at Overbrook Farm in New Jersey. He’s looks absolutely great, what a strong, handsome colt, take a look at the photo trainer Rory Huston took of him and also at this short video Rory took.
• Rapstorerocks arrived safely at Penn National Wednesday (see photo) and is already training. Mark Salvaggio likes what he sees so far and thinks he has a shot to do well there this summer. He should be ready to run when racing resumes towards the end of May. 
• Life on the Edge good out of her race at Gulfstream Park last Sunday.  It was an honest effort in a tough starter allowance event and the race should do her a world of good fitness wise. Off this she should be ready for a big step forward next time, probably towards the end of May.

General News

Good news to report, Monmouth Park released their schedule for the summer. Racing will begin July 3^rd and The Haskell will be July 18^th. Of course everything is subject to change, but it appears horses will be arriving at the barn area the 1^st of June and the racing season will run from July 3^rd – Sept. 27^th. We are all especially looking forward to Monmouth this summer with the Kenwood Racing family, everyone could use some fun and excitement to look forward to.

• Nice morning photo of Lookinlikeaqueen on her way to the track at Gulfstream Park yesterday. “She’s doing great”, Ron Spatz.
• Fire’s Finale is training well at Gulfstream Park, so well that Ron let him have an easy 2 furlong work yesterday morning, well ahead of schedule. The clockers don’t record times for 2 furlong works but we’ll let the usually reserved Ron Spatz do the talking about how he went (transcribed directly from his voicemail)… “We had a ¼ workout with the baby today, I sent him in company with my other colt. Basically went 1/8, out ¼, fractions were 11.4, 13.1, so they went in 25 seconds. It took him a couple of strides to get going, he’s a big long striding horse and the other horse is already up to 3/8 and he’s pretty quick, but he (Fire) caught right up to him and they went together the rest of the way, they both did it very easily and, you know, came back fine. Well within himself to do that. I was very pleased with the move, especially for a first work against a much more experienced horse who has a lot speed”. Really can’t ask for a better start in his training at Gulfstream.
• Life on the Edge good out of her race last Sunday at Gulfstream Park.  It was an honest effort in a tough starter allowance event and the race should do her a world of good fitness wise. Off this she should be ready for a big step forward next time, probably towards the end of May.

• Life on the Edge was bumped at the start but recovered quickly and tracked the leader in 2^nd for most of the race at Gulfstream Park, made a nice move at the top of the stretch to grab the lead, and then tired noticeably late to finish 7^th. As mentioned going in, like almost any horse coming off a layoff we knew she’d need a race or two to be at her best and the time off clearly showed here. Jockey Dylan Davis rode her very well and said she tried every step of the way but was very tired at the end.  It was an honest effort in a tough starter allowance event and the race should do her a world of good fitness wise. Off this she should be ready for a big step forward next time, probably towards the end of May.
• Lookinlikeaqueen breezed very well Friday morning at Gulfstream Park.  “I thought she worked very well. I got her in 48.2, 102.0, out in 116 and change, don’t know what the clockers got her at but she went 5/8 easy. She’s doing great”, Ron Spatz.
• Nice photos taken by trainer Mark Salvaggio yesterday morning of New Found Treasure, Giuliana Vee and No Good Deed at Penn National. All are fit, healthy, and doing well. Like everyone we are waiting for racing to resume in the northeast. The hoped for date for racing to resume at Penn is the end of this month and we’ll have them ready to run in whatever race comes up for them.
• Rapstorerocks will head up to Penn National for the summer on Wednesday in hopes he’ll fare better against softer competition.
• Seven Seven training strongly at Overbrook Farm in New Jersey. He’s looks absolutely great, what a strong, handsome colt! We are pleased to report that Group #57 is now sold out and closed. It’s a tribute to our loyal co-owners to be able to sell out any racehorse syndicate at such a challenging and uncertain time. • Rapstorerocks was in the far outside post in a 10 horse field today at Gulfstream Park, but was able to procure a nice stalking position and get a decent trip and simply stopped in the stretch to finish 9^th of 10 runners. No excuse really except not being as talented as these kind of horses. Now he’ll head up to Penn National for the summer in hopes he’ll fare better against softer competition.
• Life on the Edge is ready for her 2020 debut which will be this Sunday at Gulfstream Park. We (literally) made a total of 8 separate entries (dirt & turf, long and short, allowance and claiming) over the past week and finally a race went for her. She runs at Gulfstream and we are looking forward to her debut. She was ready ahead of schedule which is good news; like almost any horse coming off a layoff she’ll need a race or two to be at her best but it’s great to see she is training so forwardly. 
• Fire’s Finale is training well with Ron Spatz at Gulfstream Park, here’s a video of him going to the starting gate for the first time at Gulfstream Park is as good an education for the owners as it was for the horse. Note he walks calmly up to and into the gate. He’s seen a more primitive gate before at the training center but this was his first look at a much larger and more imposing racetrack gate and he handled it very calmly. He stood quietly in the gate with closed doors; some horses panic when the doors are shut in front of them, and came out (a bit slowly but fine) when the gate crew manually opened the doors in front of him. Each equine athlete (just like each human athlete) is different. Some are very nervous at first, some (like Fire’s Finale) take it all in stride. Now that he calmly handled this step, they’ll open the gate in front of him with the starting bell instead of manually (they don’t use the bell the first time(s) to not startle the horse or give them too much to think about). Training is a process with every horse (and every person), a few steps forward and now and then, a step or two back. With patience they will get to the races in their own time and have a shot to be the best horse their ability will allow. All the good trainers will tell you when someone asks “when will my horse be ready?”, “we let the horse tell us”.   
• Pango galloping towards his next start, he’s had some tenderness in his feet, trainer Ron Spatz took his shoes off and he seems to be much more comfortable now so probably not anything major. He could be entered next week at Gulfstream Park.
• Lookinlikeaqueen excellent, will breeze shortly, maybe tomorrow as we point for her next start at Gulfstream Park.

• Night of Idiots was a fast closing 3^rd yesterday evening at Los Alamitos as the heavy favorite. Horrible purse and wrong distance, just too short for her. Was dead last for most of the race, made a huge late run and finished about 1 length short. As expected, she was claimed from us here. She’s a nice filly at a this level, but really not a fit for our east-coast based program focused on higher class runners so we felt it was better to run for a small purse and get her claimed than just sitting in the barn until racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields.
• Here's some great photos of Seven Seven training at Overbrook Farm in New Jersey taken by farm manager Rory Huston, who is getting him ready to ship to Belmont Park soon. He’s looks absolutely great, what a strong, handsome colt! We are down to the final share for this horse and it appears the group will be announced as sold out shortly. Thanks to all for your support.
• Rapstorerocks was #14 in a 16 horse field for both today (Sunday) and next Thursday at Gulfstream Park. In each case only 12 can run, so he couldn’t run unless there were two scratches in one of those races. No luck for the race today but fortunately it looks like there will be two scratches for Thursday’s race so he WILL run this Thursday. He’ll be on the far outside, not ideal but better than sitting in the barn. After this race he’ll likely head up to Penn National for the summer.
• Life on the Edge worked again yesterday at Palm Meadows and did great, ready for her 2020 debut. Here’s a nice video Kelly Breen took of the work. Races for her did not go for either Saturday or Sunday at Gulfstream Park. We entered her again for next Thursday and that race did not go either. We entered in two races for next Friday and neither one went but one of them comes back, enter Wednesday for next Saturday. That will be the 6^th entry looking for a spot for her. She’s ahead of schedule. There’s another option for May 3^rd if the race enter Wednesday doesn’t go. Like almost any horse coming off a layoff she’ll need the first race back but it’s great to see she is training so forwardly. 
• Pango galloping towards his next start at Gulfstream Park, could be entered next Wednesday for next Saturday.
• Lookinlikeaqueen excellent out of her race at Gulfstream Park and ready to run back again in May.

• Night of Idiots runs tomorrow at Los Alamitos. Horrible purse and wrong distance but better than just sitting in the barn until racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields. She looks absolutely terrific, if she can handle a super-short 4.5 furlong race will run very well here.
• Entered in another race at Gulfstream Park for Rapstorerocks and amazingly again he is #14 in a 16 horse field. So he’s ‘in’ both Sunday and Thursday but in each case only 12 can run, so he will NOT RACE unless there are two scratches in one of those races. Not likely but will keep our fingers crossed. If he does run he’ll be on the far outside. Unless you read otherwise, he’s NOT running.
• Races for Life on the Edge did not go for either Saturday or Sunday at Gulfstream Park. We entered her again for Thursday and that race did not go either. However, there are two races to enter her in tomorrow for next Friday, so hopefully one of them will go. She’s ahead of schedule; there’s another option for May 3^rd if the ones tomorrow don’t go. Like almost any horse coming off a layoff she’ll need the first race back but it’s great to see she is training so forwardly. 
• Fire’s Finale is training with Ron Spatz at Gulfstream Park and doing fine, no issues. As of now will point towards his debut at Gulfstream Park, depending on the status of racing up north this spring-summer. When Monmouth opens we still plan to bring him up north to race.

• Trilby had terrible luck at Gulfstream Park today; sat a good trip early, made a huge run on the far turn and got shut off horribly when another horse clipped heels with her at the top of the stretch, losing all shot. Very fortunate she did not go down, scary moment.  A full field makes it tough, especially on the grass with the rail way out, it’s why you always read-hear how vital the ‘trip’ is and how there’s 1 way to win a race and 100 to lose it. She was claimed from us and while nothing wrong with that, we plain had bad luck not to get a win with a hard-trying filly who ran well twice for us. First time she was 7 wide after making a big move and finished 3^rd, this time she was making a winning move and clipped heels at a key spot.
• Our super two year old out of Exchanging Fire, now officially named Fire’s Finale, shipped into trainer Ron Spatz at Gulfstream Park. You can see photos of him leaving Ocala and arriving at Gulfstream Park. You can also see a video of him in his final day of training at T-Square Stud on Monday here.  He is training with Ron now, went to the track with another horse today and yesterday and did fine. As of now will point towards his debut at Gulfstream Park, depending on the status of racing up north this spring-summer. When Monmouth Park opens, we still plan to bring him up north to race.

• Lookinlikeaqueen was 6^th beaten 6 lengths for the win today at Gulfstream Park against a large tough group. She had the unfavorable far outside post but was able to get a good position, made a nice move turning for home and just flattened out in the stretch. It was a classic race for a horse who lost a little fitness since missing a race 2 weeks ago with a cough and just came up a little short. To quote trainer Ron Spatz after the race “This race will be better than 2 works. She tried hard and came back good and it should set her up for a big race next time”.
• Life on the Edge had another excellent breeze yesterday at Gulfstream Park. As you can see from the video, she broke like a shot from the gate and outworked her workmate again this week. Trainer Kelly Breen thinks off of this she’s close to being ready to run and we are considering races for her next weekend at Gulfstream Park. That would be ahead of schedule, we had been looking at a race the first week of May for her debut. Like almost any horse coming off a layoff she’ll need the race but it’s great to see she is training so forwardly. 
• Trilby runs Thursday at Gulfstream Park, a 14 horse field makes it tough but she had a really solid maintenance work, gets a good post, fits well with this group and is doing excellent. If she gets a good trip and handles the addition of blinkers we think she’s ready to run a big race off a good debut 3rd for us last time.
• Race at Gulfstream Park for Rapstorerocks got 24 entries yesterday and he didn’t get in. Fortunately they brought the race back again, enter this Wednesday for next Saturday. He’s doing well and a few extra days won’t hurt him.
• Pango fine out of his race at Gulfstream Park and galloping towards his next star, could be entered this week.
• Seven Seven on the track and back in training at Overbrook Farm in New Jersey. Will train there for a few weeks and then ship into Belmont Park until Monmouth Park opens.

• New Found Treasure, Giuliana Vee and No Good Deed all worked today at Penn National. All went well and all are ready to run. Like everyone else, we are just waiting for racing to resume in the northeast. The hoped for date for racing to return to Penn is towards the end of May, obviously subject to change.
• Trilby gets in for next Thursday at Gulfstream Park, a 14 horse field makes it very, very tough but she had a really solid maintenance work (below), is doing excellent and is ready to run off her good debut for us last time. Trainer Ron Spatz adds blinkers for this, an experiment to see if she’ll show a little more early speed. Sometimes it works great, other times it’s a total washout. Worth a try, we’ll see how she handles it and judge from there. Take a look at the attached photo trainer Ron Spatz took of her yesterday morning after training, “getting spoiled” as he put it. Who wouldn’t like to get a nice bath while being hand fed!
• Lookinlikeaqueen runs Sunday at Gulfstream Park. A large tough group, she got the unfavorable #10 post in an 11 horse field, but she’s doing well since getting sick two weeks ago. As a point of education, she’s 6 to 1 in the morning line, not a wild longshot but not one of the favorites, this off an impressive win in her last start with a great overall record. The horse doesn’t care what the odds are, the point is that a lot of the results depend on the level of the competition. If you run against weak horses, you usually look good, if you run in a tough field, the same effort can get you an off-the-board finish. That’s why ‘taking a shot’ with a nice $20,000 claiming horse in an allowance race because you don’t want the horse claimed is almost always a bad idea. That said, in this case the options to run are limited and this certainly isn’t out of her reach with her best effort. Maybe lost a little fitness since missing a race 2 weeks ago with a cough; we’ll see, but coming off a nice win and no other place to run her, whatever happens here she gets one under her belt and is sharp and ready for the next one.
