Hi all,
A big second half of February coming up with three races carded including two stakes and more to come in the next couple of weeks.
A big welcome to the Kenwood Stable for Adversary a four-year-old gelding who becomes the third horse for our Group 99 ARC26 program as he was claimed on February 5th at Gulfstream Park. He is a Florida Bred by Girvin out of Pippas Poppy by Soldat with a running line of 12-2-3-1 for earnings of $68,220. Scott’s report is below.
We were successful in claiming ADVERSARY at Gulfstream Park, where he finished well beaten around two turns (albeit never stopped running hard), which is what we expected from him in this spot, going around two turns. Adversary has had success as a one-turn sprinter, with versatility on dirt and synthetic. He ran two clunkers on the turf, but both were around two turns, so we’d like to think he can have success sprinting on the turf as well. As I have said from the start of looking at this horse though, we are excited to get him back onto the dirt, where he has run some of his best races; potentially against Florida-bred competition. As we always say whether they win or lose in the race we claim them from, it ultimately means nothing with how they finish in that race, for their previous owners. It only matters what they do moving forward for us, and this is another claim we are excited to have in the barn! He’s a May foal, so he’s technically still a 3YO for a few more months and hopefully still improving; especially getting back to what we feel will be his preferred running surface!
Lisa Connects starts off the month of February in the first race today at Gulfstream Park going one mile and 70 yards on the Tapeta track (see pp’s above and details below) in Race 1 today post 12:20 pm. Edwin Gonzalez will be aboard from post position 5 with an opening betting line of 8-1 in a field of eleven Maidens after the scratch of the #9 who was the opening line favorite at 5/2. Scott’s race day comments are below and good luck to all Group 98 members and Kenwood Partners.
It’s race day for LISA CONNECTS at Gulfstream Park, as she looks to break through with her Maiden win in Race 1, going 8.3-furlongs on the synthetic surface! There was one scratch amongst the full field of 12 runners, with the ML favorite, #9-World Builder no longer in the race. She was also the only other gate speed on paper, so it will be interesting to see if any other horses “send it” out of the gate. Lisa Connects has proven she has gate speed on dirt and turf, so with a clean break today, we expect Edwin Gonzalez to be able to get her into a comfortable position. That could end up being on the frontend, and Edwin will just have to read and react to the early pace scenario, which we expect to be slower, especially after the scratch of the #9. Lisa Connects has been training well, and we’re just hoping for a clean trip with no excuses today! Good luck to all Group Members and Kenwood Partners, as we look to get our homebred into the Winner’s Circle!
Lisa Connects is entered today at GULFSTREAM PARK.

Cadet Corps has arrived safely at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans for another Grade 3 Stakes try after just missing back in January over the same surface (see pp’s above and details below). He had a bullet work on February 2nd in preparation for this entry (see below). Top Veteran Rider Brian Hernandez Jr. will be in the irons as regular rider Paco Lopez has been sidelined with a broken ankle. They will leave from post position 3 going one and a sixteenth miles on the dirt in a field of seven. The opening line is 6-1 in a this evenly matched field and Scott’s early comments are below. Good luck to all Group 97 Members and Trainer Partner Kelly Breen
CADET CORPS is back in New Orleans to run in the 250K G3 Mineshaft Stakes this Saturday where he'll get a chance to stretch his legs over the main track for a couple days heading into Saturday's race! Cadet Corps will need to run the race of his life, again, to have a say in things on Saturday, but he has come out of his last race doing better than ever and had an eye-catching workout last weekend that confirmed for the team that he's ready to go! The weather doesn't look perfect on Saturday at Fair Grounds, with some rain in the forecast, but CC has handled off tracks before, and it's not something that concerns us. Cadet Corps drew well with the early speed just to his inside, and with a veteran rider like Brian Hernandez Jr. picking up the mount from Paco Lopez, we'll be in very capable hands to spring an upset!

Cadet Corps is entered on February 14, 2026 at FAIR GROUNDS. |

Speed Figures will travel to Tampa Bay Downs early Saturday morning to run in the 100K Turf Dash in the 10th race later that afternoon (see pp’s above and details below). Veteran rider Jose Ferrer (who earned his 4500th career victory aboard Kenwood’s Tracy Anns Legacy back in the summer of 2020) will be in the irons from a tough #11 outside post in a full field of 12. Scott’s early comments are below. Good luck to all Group 97 Members and Trainer Partner Kelly Breen
We finally got word late yesterday afternoon that SPEED FIGURES is in the Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs this Saturday, February 14th! Carded with a full, maxed out field of 12 runners, Speed Figures drew the #11 Post Position, with veteran jockey Jose Ferrer in the irons! Carded as the 10th and final race on their Saturday card celebrating the track’s 100th Racing Season(!), the scheduled Post Time is for 4:49 PM; just under 10 minutes before CADET CORPS is scheduled to race at Fair Grounds! There is no shortage of early speed signed on Saturday, starting with the millionaire, #9-Coppola, and then #3-Rezasrolex, who is coming in off nine straight wins dating back to June of 2024! Speed Figures is right there on paper too but will have his work cut out for him breaking from the outside. No easy fields at the Stakes level, and a full field in a short sprint like this is about as tough as it gets, but it will be a good test for Speed Figures, coming off his big effort last out. He’s showing all the signs that he is ready to move forward again, and not “bounce” out of his lifetime best performance, but he’ll need to prove it while moving up in class again! The weather looks gorgeous in Tampa Bay this weekend, with sunshine and 80-degree weather, so fingers crossed for a clean trip and honest effort from Speed Figures!.
Speed Figures is entered to run on February 14, 2026, at TAMPA BAY DOWNS.
Race: 10 - 4:49 PM Exacta / Trifecta ($.50 minimum) / Superfecta ($.10 minimum) / Super High 5

All is well with our new horses in the ARC26 stable, and She’s a Gamer and Foggy Note had a nice 3-furlong breeze in company Sunday morning, at Palm Meadows. See the link below to see a video of the breeze, from Kelly, along with the Equibase Workout Notifications for both. They stopped the clock in :38 seconds flat, and while it’s not the “fastest time”, we weren’t looking for a fast time, the Palm Meadows dirt track has been deep and slower in general this year, but most importantly, as the video shows – they looked competitive the entire way, going nose and nose down the stretch into a nice gallop out; all well within themselves, with some mild urging from the riders. It was just what we wanted to see from them. Hopefully, we can get a nice dirt sprint for She’s a Gamer on an upcoming Overnight and we are still eyeing the entry level, Florida Bred Allowance for Foggy Note on February 26th, as she seems ready to run as well and we’ll keep our eyes on the Overnights for her for any potential Starter Allowance that she’ll qualify for.
