Great video from Sunday, July 15th at Monmouth Park; a textbook example of hands-on horsemanship. Watch trainer Kelly Breen school Mandel in the paddock at Monmouth Park prior to his victory, where he romped in race 8, winning by 14 lengths. The horse was on his toes and a bit on edge walking from the barn to the walking ring. Kelly got him to settle down and focus while saddling (a time when many horses get nervous and leave their best effort in the paddock!) with a superb example of the little things really good trainers do. Would he have won anyway? Perhaps, but the way he responded speaks for itself. View the video here.
