Kenwood Racing is pleased and honored to announce we just received the first annual "Spirit of the Sport" award from Monmouth Park Racetrack Memories (now and then) Facebook page. For those of you who don’t know them already, Robert & Lisa Bulger, who created this fan group with thousands of members, are tireless ambassadors for all that’s good in Thoroughbred Racing.

We wouldn’t blame people, given this glowing tribute, for thinking we had a hand in this. These are cynical times and that kind of thing happens a lot in our PR-driven world; we can only tell you that this was a total surprise. Needless to say, we are humbled and honored and wanted to share this with everyone.

Monmouth Memories Spirit of the Sport Award 2019 - Kenwood Racing

Our 1st Spirit of the Sport award goes to the ownership entity of Kenwood Racing for many reasons.
Kenwood’s commitment to their group’s members, who are fellow owners is second to none. Being privy to emails from Robb Levinsky to his many owners I can tell you that they are kept up to date, well informed and Kenwood has one of the most financially sound and savvy organizations available. Robb not only informs, but he educates his group members as to every small detail involving the game as possible. We highly recommend them if you are seeking ownership possibilities with groups, as Kenwood is one of the finest organizations around.
We also recognize Kenwood’s commitment to aftercare for their older horses who are looking to make the transition from the track to a second career or forever home. Kenwood does everything the right way with a genuine care and concern for their equine athletes. Their placement of horses with top organizations like War Horses of Rose Bower, New Beginnings Thoroughbreds and Second Call show the character and integrity of their group and a responsibility for their horses beyond the track. Lisa and I commend their efforts highly which speaks volumes about their leadership.
Kenwood also actively educates and promotes our sport. Each year in conjunction with Monmouth Park, they run several “owner for a day” specials in which fans, horseplayers, or people interested in getting involved in the sport can purchase at a bargain price the experience of being a “owner for a day” at Monmouth Park! The day includes a morning trip to the backside, meeting the trainer and a jockey, visiting the Kenwood Barn and being witnessing a work or other activity from the owners perspective. The afternoon brings a day at the races including visits to the owners box and then to their par tier luxury box seating high above the track. One also gets to experience being invited inside the paddock for saddling, riders up, and the true pre race experience, and if the horse wins, to rejoice in the winners circle. Groups are limited to 12 or 10, but it is the experience of a lifetime. This service provided is not to promote Kenwood at all. It’s done to bring people into the game. Never before has our sport needed a service like this and thanks to Kenwood Racing, they have been running this for several years now.

Kenwood was our first Monmouth ownership group to actively take part in the We Support Horse Racing wristband challenge to show solidarity and support for our sport and racing. Our sport faced crisis this year as Animal Rights terrorists and biased media took turns slamming our sport. Our friends at Santa Anita began a movement to show support for our sport and to battle the AR groups and their lies and deceptions, exposing their true agenda to destroy racing and euthanize, and sterilize all breeds to extinction and end horsemanship of all kind. We need more groups to stand up for our sport and to take on the challenges of pressing for the right kind of change and not negotiate with the extremists who have one goal in mind. Kenwood prides itself on doing things the right way. We support them in all their efforts and commend them for it.
Thank you to Robb and Jack for all of their kindness and support through the years. Thank you to Emmy and George and to the entire Kenwood family for everything. We felt it only proper to recognize all of you, Kenwood Racing, for year end honors. A class organization with great horse people.
