Authentic Kitten was in the right spot to finally break her maiden and did so in style on July 12th at Penn National, winning by 7 widening lengths in a romp under a picture perfect ride by Tyler Connor. Last time she went to her knees at the break, lost all chance, and still managed to finish 3rd in a very brave effort. This time, she broke alertly, sat in 2nd, and it was obvious on the backstretch that she was able to pass the leader anytime her rider wanted. When asked for run turning for home she drew away easily and impressively.

While it was a lower level maiden race (not the lowest level, she actually stepped up slightly in class off her last race) at Penn, the way she won indicates that she’s good enough to return to the winner’s again before long. With luck, we might get a few nice wins out of her this season. Congratulations to the Kenwood partners and group #32 co-owners on a nice victory.
