A little more good news with Liam’s Map, his 9th two year winner, winning a maiden allowance race impressively at Keeneland today. Every one helps as we head towards the sale next month with Lisa Limon.  Look at what the Liam’s Maps were selling for BEFORE his first crop hit the races running this year and you can see why having a foal by Liam’s Map out of Lisa Limon by world class sire Scat Daddy could be a grand slam home run!

10th-Keeneland, $70,887, Msw, 10-26, 2yo, 1 1/8m (off turf), 1:53.08, sy. LIAM'S LEGEND (c, 2, Liam’s Map--Indian Legend {SW, $294,550}, by Cherokee Run), bidding to become the ninth winner for his first-crop sire (by Unbridled’s Song), checked in fifth sprinting at Churchill Sept. 20 and was off as the 9-5 choice while drawing in as a main-track-only entrant in this elongated test of 2-year-old stamina. He chased freewheeling Handy (Tiznow) early, reeled that foe in upper stretch and kept on from there to don cap and gown by three lengths. Handy held for second. The winner is half to Kenda (Bodemeister). His yearling half-sister was a $300,000 KEEJAN short yearling and $325,000 KEESEP yearling. Dam Indian Legend, a full to GSW Cherokee Queen, produced a Classic Empire colt this term before being bred back to Empire Maker. Sales history: $120,000 RNA Wlg '17 KEENOV; $180,000 Ylg '18 KEESEP; $195,000 RNA 2yo '19 OBSAPR. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $45,450. A ton of key works today all over the country, see below, lots of racing to come!

  • Everything finally good with Rapstorerocks after illness, superficial cuts, etc. detailed previously. Kelly breezed him today at Monmouth Park and he went great. He’ll be entered tomorrow for next weekend on the grass at Aqueduct.
  • Solar is doing excellent and he worked great today also at Monmouth Park. There’s a race for him November 9th at Aqueduct or an alternate at Laurel Park the same day
  • Night of Idiots had a sizzling fast work today in company and is ready for her race at Golden Gate Fields November 2nd.
  • ShimmyShimmy Shake worked very well at Penn National with trainer Mark Salvaggio this morning. She’s ‘out of jail’ (can run outside of Monmouth Park where she was claimed) now and there’s an excellent spot for her in the book at Penn National in the beginning of November.
  • New Found Treasure fine out of an absolutely nightmare trip at The Meadowlands, bumped badly at the start, went to her knees and almost lost her rider, then was 4 wide between horses, and finally shut off making a move on the turn before flattening out to finish 7th, beaten less than 5 lengths for the win. She ships to Penn National Sunday
  • Giuliana Vee good out of her debut, ran into a couple of buzz saws in her debut as the winner ran the race in an incredible 110.07, but tried every step of the way to finish 4th in a large, strung out field at Penn National. The winning time would win stakes for 2 year old fillies in New York, and given the fact it was her debut and she was stuck deep on the rail throughout, it was a more than creditable effort.  She’s bred to run well longer and would expect a step forward next time off this effort.
  • More Ice worked really well today at Los Alamitos and should be ready to run in late November.
  • Bullion is doing well in Kentucky, training at Ellis Park. Trainer Steve Asmussen (leading trainer in North America this year and the trainer of both of Liam’s Map’s stakes winners, Basin and Wicked Whisper, interestingly) reports he’s been working on building up muscle he lost while on the farm. Says the horse is training well and very sound. His plan is to get a race or two into him in Louisiana later this fall and hopefully have him sharp and ready for the Oaklawn Park meet that begins in January. Oaklawn has some of the largest purses in the nation at all levels and Steve feels he’ll be a really good fit there and have a shot to earn some serious purse money at that meet.
