General News
Lots and lots of news and a very busy weekend and week ahead! Party, races, workouts, awards and more; take a look!
- We’ll begin with our upcoming season kickoff event this Sunday morning at George Katzenberger’s home. Everyone should have received information already but if you need any details please email George@Kenwoodracing.com. All welcome, fine to show up at the last minute and guests are welcome too but an RSVP helps us plan for food and seating. We’ll celebrate the start of what promises to be a very exciting season at Monmouth Park with information on the upcoming season, followed by Tracy Ann’s Legacy in the Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park in the afternoon. What a day! And speaking of Tracy Ann’s Legacy, take a look at the nice article on trainer Kelly Breen, which mentions Tracy Ann's Legacy being pointed to the opening weekend stake.
- Some really good news to report to start the season as Monmouth Park has announced that all vaccinated owners will be welcomed in the paddock, winner’s circle and backstretch beginning June 8th (see article).
Horse by Horse News
- Group #68, our Street Sense colt, is sold out. Group #69, our Kantharos filly has just a couple of shares left. We appreciate your support greatly! In a very competitive sale, we were able to purchase a very quick filly by a hot sire, the first foal out of a mare by Union Rags from a fine black type family. Recall we purchased our Kantharos colt (U Kant Whip It) at the March sale for $90,000 (and he’s already entered for his debut, see below) so paying just $60,000 for her was truly a bargain price! Please contact us for more info. on the final shares.
- Speaking of U Kant Whip It, he had another excellent work yesterday at Monmouth Park and was entered yesterday at Pimlico and the race didn’t go. He was entered again today at Delaware Park and the race went, he’ll make his debut next Wednesday in the 1st race!! It’s a 9 horse field but he drew a favorable outside post and gets a good rider for his debut. Note that as with Tessa P who made her debut last week, he’s really precocious. Not many two year olds are ready to run this early so getting races to go can be a challenge. Amazing to have both of our two year old March purchases already racing by the beginning of June, a tribute to trainer Kelly Breen and his team and program. Please email George@kenwoodracing.com if you plan to attend and he’ll be happy to make seating-dining reservations for you.
- A lot of action to kick off the Monmouth Park meet for Kenwood Racing runners. First up on Saturday we may have either/or Charge Account – Adhwaa in an allowance race at Monmouth Park. We entered them for other races at Monmouth Park, which didn’t go. Stay tuned and watch your emails and Equibase for possible changes – scratches right up to race time.
- Then on Sunday, Tracy Ann's Legacy faces a huge field of 12 in the Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park, Nik Juarez rides. She draws post #3, not ideal, but is training super for this. Here too weather could take the race off the turf and while she’s a better turf runner and we’d prefer this one stay on the grass, she has run very well on the dirt at Monmouth Park in the past so if it does come off it will be a shorter field and not the worst thing at all. Tracy Ann’s Legacy gets a nice mention in the article about trainer Kelly Breen.
- Finally for entries, Brynbella looks for her 2nd win in a row at Penn National next Wednesday a few hours after U Kant Whip It runs at Delaware Park. A nice short field, a repeat of her last makes her the horse to beat in here

- Fire's Finale is training really well after his season debut, had a terrific workout at Monmouth Park last weekend. There’s two nice allowance races coming up at Parx with bonus $ for him as a Pa. bred June 7th and 9th. Hopefully one of them will go, if not we’ll look at a race at Monmouth Park for him in June.
