General News

An exciting weekend of racing is on tap over the next 4 days as we have 2 horses entered and another possible for Monday. We are also eagerly anticipating the resumption of Kenwood Racing’s Annual Picnic on Sunday August 28th after a 2- year hiatus due to Covid-19.  Please mark your calendars as details will follow in the coming weeks.

Horse by Horse News

  • U Kant Whip It is entered in Race 6 at Monmouth Park tomorrow.  He has been training great following his big win on July 4th and will be in a 5 furlong sprint on the Monmouth Turf leaving from post position 1.  Rider Albin Jimenez will try to hustle him out of the gate to avoid traffic and hopefully never have to look back.  We expect a large crowd of Group 67 Members and Kenwood partners to cheer him on.  Good luck to all Group 67 and our partner Ralph Pastore.
  • Tetragrammaton has responded well after his 2nd place finish at Parx on July 19th and will get a quick turnaround to run in the 7th race on Saturday afternoon at Monmouth Park.  He will face a full field of 11 while getting the outside post position going a flat mile on the turf.  Albin Jimenez will be in the irons again as Paco Lopez is serving a suspension.  Good luck to our ARC22 group and Partner – Trainer Kelly J. Breen.
  • Catania will be entered tomorrow for a race on Monday at Monmouth Park marking the start of 4 day racing each week through Labor Day.  We will keep you posted if the race goes.
  • Easy as A.B.C. had a very nice debut on Haskell Day last Saturday as a large number of Kenwood family Members were on hand to watch (see picture of the group). Here are the post- race comments from Kenwood’s Racing Manager Scott Schaub

It was an exciting debut for Easy As A.B.C. as he broke cleanly and dueled between horses for the early lead. Forced to pullup abruptly around the turn, due to the inside horse moving out and pinching E-ABC from advancing, he lost all his momentum and wound up about 4-5 lengths back around the turn. He never stopped trying though, digging back in for a respectable 3rd place finish, from a troubled trip in his career debut. E-ABC had every right to give up after being pulled up heading into the turn, but he remained engaged in the race and battled on to remain on the winning side of 3rd place photo finish!  He came out of the race in good order so far, and jockey Paco Lopez felt more distance would benefit E-ABC in his next start; and Kelly and the entire team also agree. He is bred on the top (Sire side, Arrogate) and bottom (Dam side, Belle Chloe) to go two-turns, so to see him flash early gate speed, experience trouble, and still get up for a 3rd place finish in his debut, while sprinting 5.5f on the dirt is great to see!

  • Torn Jeans is doing fine after her last race and there are possible entries for her on August 5th and 12th at Monmouth.  We will keep you updated as to her status.

  • Life On the Edge is doing well with trainer Mark Salvaggio at Penn National and there is a possible entry for her on August 12th.
  • Fire's Finale had a nice work on Tuesday and we are looking for a spot for him at Monmouth Park for his next race.

  • Ellie's a Riot and Without a Net have both returned to Monmouth Park and have resumed training with Kelly Breen after a brief rest at Overbrook Farm.  Thanks to Rory Huston for taking such good care of them as we look for them to get to the races later in the Monmouth meet.
  • Lisa Limon and her 2 foals are all well at Hidden Brook Farm.
