General News

A lot of action coming up this week with 2 races carded and 3 more possible. Also, there is still availability in both of our new Horse Groups, but we are down to the last few available shares and will close out the groups once they are sold.   Both horses have been working well for Trainer Kelly Breen at Monmouth Park.  This is your final opportunity of the year to join in a Kenwood Racing Horse Group and if you want to get in on the action, please contact Scott or myself ASAP.

Important: Save the date of Sunday August 27 for the Annual Kenwood Picnic at Monmouth Park during the NJ Thoroughbred Festival.  Details to follow early in August.

Horse by Horse News

  • Lisa's Palace has shipped from Monmouth Park to Saratoga in anticipation for her debut on Wednesday July 19th in Race 6 a Maiden Special Weight for a large purse of 83K.  The daughter of our beloved Lisa Limon had a very nice breeze on July 6th  in preparation and trainer Kelly Breen feels that she deserves a shot in this spot.  Hall of famer Joel Rosario will be aboard in a 5 ½ furlong sprint on the main track.  There is a full field of ten horses with two alternates and breaking from the one post will certainly be a challenge.  Currently 12-1 on the board we are hoping for a safe trip and that she can make a good account of herself against this tough group.  We will be there to cheer her on and good luck to all our Group 92 Members.

  • Red Head Italian will try to break her Maiden on Friday July 21st at Monmouth Park and give Group member Karen Moss-Lux a very Happy Birthday Present in race 4 at Monmouth Park.  Talented rider Jose Gomez will once again be in the irons in this NJ Bred five furlong sprint.  She will break from a favorable position out of post 7 with eight horses vying for the 71+K purse.  Most of the horses were in her debut race where she ran a hard trying second on June 30th.  We expect a large crowd to be on hand on Haskell eve to cheer her on.  Good luck to all Group 91 Members, Trainer Kelly Breen and our partners at RJR Racing.
  • Boston Princess had an easy work on July 9th in preparation to be entered on Wednesday for an Allowance Race on July 22nd Haskell Day at Monmouth Park.  Kelly has been very pleased with her since she shipped up from Florida late in June and believes she will be very competitive in this slot.  More details to follow if she makes the entries.

  • U Kant Whip It was entered for a turf sprint at Monmouth Park for this Friday, but the race was not carded and we are diligently looking for a spot for him as well.  He is ready to go and we just need to find a spot for him to be entered.
  • Montauk Summer has recovered nicely from his race where he sustained a cut on his leg after being kicked during the race.  We will be looking for a slot for him in the coming weeks.
  • Ellie's a Riot is well on the farm in Florida getting some rest and relaxation.
  • Lisa Limon and her foals are well at Hidden Brook Farm.
