War Horses at Rose' Bower Fram
New Jersey Champion Thoroughbred Hermosillo has been officially retired to War Horses Farm at Rose’ Bower in Appomattox, VA.

This beautiful facility in the Virginia countryside is a new thoroughbred retirement home owned and managed by Barbara Luna, who has devoted her career to finding homes for retired racehorses while working for Re-Run in New Jersey and Turning For Home in Pennsylvania for the past 10+ years. Barbara had a lifelong dream of opening her own farm to care for retired “war horses”. She sold her home near Monmouth Park and moved there this summer. Call it fate or karma or simple coincidence, but she was looking for a special horse to be the first boarder and help promote her farm when we called to tell her of Hermosillo’s retirement. As Barbara put it “It would be great advertising for you, too, as I would definitely promote Kenwood as being owners who truly take care of their own by visiting, sponsoring, etc., this amazing horse. You know I love to write, and promote, and he may just kick start the great thing I hope I have going. It’s the perfect match, a way for Hermosillo to have a wonderful life AND help promote the dream of one of the truly good people in the industry to own a farm devoted specifically to offering a safe and happy retirement to other “war horses”. If ever there was a warrior on the racetrack it was Hermosillo, ran 76 times until age 9, danced every dance, always gave it 100% win or lose. We are thrilled to have him as the first resident of War Horses Farm.

War Horses at Rose’ Bower is a registered 501 3c non profit charity. You can help support Hermosillo and other horses less fortunate then him by making a generous annual contribution to War Horses at Rose’ Bower in Hermosillo’s name. Attached is the farm’s business card, some photos of the farm, a few of Hermosillo at the races and one of him settling into his new life at the farm with Barbara Luna.
