  • In addition, we will be looking closely for horses of racing age at the Fasig-Tipton Sale next week with hopes of finding 1 or 2 quality proven runners to add to the stable.  Watch for updates next week.

Horse by Horse News

A lot of entry news and some other items of interest:

  • First of all, we would like to welcome our newest horse to the Kenwood Racing Stable for our Active Racing Club and Group 70. She is a 3 year old filly by Overanalyze named Overdressed. We won a two way shake for her in the last race at Monmouth Park this past Sunday.  So far, Kelly is very happy with her we think that she will develop well under his guidance.
  • Adhwaa training well and is entered (Main Track Only) in race 1 at Monmouth Park on Friday Evening.  With the storm that is projected to blow through overnight, it is highly likely that it will be off the turf and she will run.  Nick Juarez is up.

Thanks to all who attended our special seminar on purchasing horses of racing age at auction on Wednesday, June 30th.  For anyone who was unable to attend, but interested in seeing what was presented, please email and we will send the information to you.

Horse by Horse News

  • Tracy Ann's Legacy put in a good effort in the Goldwood Stakes on Friday June 25th at Monmouth Park but was up against it when the winner came in just 3/10 of a second over the track record.  She tried hard and was just over 2 lengths from another stakes placing.  We will be looking for a little easier spot for her next race.
  • Life On the Edge got a rough trip Tuesday at Parx, shuffled back at the start and in tight when making a move in the stretch. Never really seemed to like this turf course. Nonetheless closed swiftly to pass most of the field to finish 5th of 10 horses, beating more than half the field while beaten about 4 lengths for the win.
  • Adhwaa training well and may be entered in an Allowance on Haskell Day at Monmouth Park on Saturday July 17th .
  • Charge Account also training well and we are actively trying to get a race put up for her in the next week or so.
  • Fire's Finale well out of his last Stakes effort at Parx and should be ready to go again in a couple of weeks.
  • Cup of Life had a nice work at Monmouth Park on Friday June 25th and is progressing well towards her debut later this summer.

  • Tracy Ann's Legacy is entered In the Goldwood Stakes on Friday June 25th at Monmouth Park.  It is a 5 furlong sprint on the turf and she gets top rider Nik Juarez who will be coming off of 3 wins last Sunday.  Hopefully the rain is minimal and it stays on the grass which is her best surface.  If you can attend, you will be able to go into the paddock prior to the race and with a good trip and some luck, the Winner’s Circle after the race.
  • Life On the Edge has been entered at Parx on Tuesday June 29th.  She was scratched at Penn after the race was taken off the turf because of heavy rain this past Tuesday. She is ready to run and gets top rider Frankie Pennington in a good spot.
  • Fire's Finale finished a hard trying 3rd over the wet Parx dirt Tuesday in the Crowd Pleaser Stakes. All in all, it was a good showing for Fire’s Finale who was Stakes placed again and proved that he will be very competitive in 2 turn races going forward.
  • Charge Account fine after her race at Monmouth Park and we will be looking for a race for her in a few weeks.
  • Adhwaa much improved after coming down with a slight cold.  There is an Allowance race for her on Haskell Day (July 17th) at Monmouth Park that we will be pointing towards.
  • U Kant Whip It is training well and had a bullet work on Tuesday.  We are targeting a race for him on July 18th at Monmouth Park

  • First off  Charge Account and Adhwaa are entered in the 8th race on Saturday June 19th at Monmouth Park and Allowance at 1 mile on the dirt. They get the 2 top Monmouth Riders Nik Juarez and Jose Ferrer, respectively.  In addition Charge Account had an excellent work last Saturday.  Good luck to both Group 60 and Group 65 Co-owners as we are rooting for a Kenwood Racing Exacta.

  • Next up, Fire's Finale is entered in the Crowd Pleaser Stakes for a $100,000 purse in Race 7 on Tuesday June 22 at Parx.  It is for PA Bred 3 year olds and is on the turf.  He is doing great and ready to run and even though he has never tried the turf it is an excellent opportunity to open another door for him if he takes to it.  Good luck to all Group 56 Co-owners.
  • Later that evening in Penn National’s 4th race Life On the Edge will go 1 mile and 70 yards on the turf.  Based on her last effort and with top rider Julio Hernandez aboard we expect her to be very competitive in this spot.  If all goes well, she will then be shipped to Monmouth Park for the remainder of the summer meet.  Good luck to all Group 50 Co-owners.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for June 3, 2021

June 4, 2021 at 1:31 pm • By Anonymous

Horse by Horse News

  • A lot of good news to start off the summer racing season.  First off Charge Account and Adhwaa put on a show in Saturday’s 6th race at Monmouth Park in very sloppy and cold conditions.  Charge Account with Nik Juarez aboard sped to the lead and never looked back to win by an easy 7+ lengths for her 2nd win in Kenwood Racing silks. Congratulations to all Group 65 Co-owners. Adhwaa who was entered for the main track only stalked the pace and just came up a ½ length short of completing a Kenwood Racing Exacta. A very good effort for a horse that really doesn’t relish the slop.  A large group of Kenwood Racing partners and Co-owners braved the rain and wind to have their picture taken in front of the Winner’s Circle
  • Next, on Sunday following our 2021 Monmouth Park Kickoff Brunch, where we announced details for our Summer Active Racing Group. Another large group of Kenwood Partners and co-owners spent the day in the Turf Club keeping high and dry while waiting for Tracy Ann's Legacy to run in the 10th race, the Politely Stakes.  With rain forecast for most of the weekend, a slew of mudders and dirt horses were entered in hopes that the race would be moved off of the turf.  Although rider Nik Juarez was able to get her to her preferred spot on the lead, the sloppy conditions were just too much for her, as she was passed coming from home by a few horses to finish a respectable 5th.  We will look for a little easier slot for her in a few weeks, to keep her sharp for a similar Stakes later in the Monmouth Park Meet, which will hopefully will stay on the grass.
  • U Kant Whip It made his debut in the 1st race at Delaware Park yesterday and did not get the front running trip we hoped for against a tough group of first timers finishing 6th.  Most horses need a race or two under their belt before they are able to give their best effort, so no concerns here.
  • Brynbella ran in the 1st race at Penn National later last night and finished 1st by a huge margin to complete her career with Kenwood Racing with 2 straight wins as she was claimed out of the race.  Congratulations to all Group 64 Co-owners who will be receiving a nice payout shortly.
  • Fire's Finale had a sharp work on Tuesday and is entered on Monday, June 7th for an Allowance race at Parx.  Nik Juarez will be up and will be looking for Fire’s 1st win of 2021.

Fire's Finale (3-Year-Old Colt)
Date: June 1, 2021
Track: MONMOUTH PARK
Distance: Four Furlongs
Time: 47:80 Handily
Track Condition: Fast
Surface: Dirt
Rank: 3/58

  • Life On the Edge is entered on Tuesday June 8th on her preferred surface, an Allowance Race on the turf at Penn National, where she is looking to get back to the winning form she showed on the grass last summer.
  • Tessa P is fine at Monmouth Park with trainer Kelly Breen.
  • Lisa Limon and her family all well at Hidden Brook Farm.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for May 28, 2021

May 28, 2021 at 10:34 pm • By Anonymous

General News

Lots and lots of news and a very busy weekend and week ahead! Party, races, workouts, awards and more; take a look!

  • We’ll begin with our upcoming season kickoff event this Sunday morning at George Katzenberger’s home. Everyone should have received information already but if you need any details please email George@Kenwoodracing.com. All welcome, fine to show up at the last minute and guests are welcome too but an RSVP helps us plan for food and seating. We’ll celebrate the start of what promises to be a very exciting season at Monmouth Park  with information on the upcoming season, followed by Tracy Ann’s Legacy in the Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park in the afternoon. What a day! And speaking of Tracy Ann’s Legacy, take a look at the nice article on trainer Kelly Breen, which mentions Tracy Ann's Legacy being pointed to the opening weekend stake.
  • Some really good news to report to start the season as Monmouth Park has announced that all vaccinated owners will be welcomed in the paddock, winner’s circle and backstretch beginning June 8th (see article).

Horse by Horse News

  • Group #68, our Street Sense colt, is sold out. Group #69, our Kantharos filly has just a couple of shares left. We appreciate your support greatly! In a very competitive sale, we were able to purchase a very quick filly by a hot sire, the first foal out of a mare by Union Rags from a fine black type family. Recall we purchased our Kantharos colt (U Kant Whip It) at the March sale for $90,000 (and he’s already entered for his debut, see below) so paying just $60,000 for her was truly a bargain price! Please contact us for more info. on the final shares.
  • Speaking of U Kant Whip It, he had another excellent work yesterday at Monmouth Park and was entered yesterday at Pimlico and the race didn’t go. He was entered again today at Delaware Park and the race went, he’ll make his debut next Wednesday in the 1st race!! It’s a 9 horse field but he drew a favorable outside post and gets a good rider for his debut.  Note that as with Tessa P who made her debut last week, he’s really precocious. Not many two year olds are ready to run this early so getting races to go can be a challenge. Amazing to have both of our two year old March purchases already racing by the beginning of June, a tribute to trainer Kelly Breen and his team and program.  Please email George@kenwoodracing.com if you plan to attend and he’ll be happy to make seating-dining reservations for you.
  • A lot of action to kick off the Monmouth Park meet for Kenwood Racing runners. First up on Saturday we may have either/or Charge Account – Adhwaa in an allowance race at Monmouth Park. We entered them for other races at Monmouth Park, which didn’t go. Stay tuned and watch your emails and Equibase for possible changes – scratches right up to race time.
  • Then on Sunday, Tracy Ann's Legacy faces a huge field of 12 in the Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park, Nik Juarez rides. She draws post #3, not ideal, but is training super for this. Here too weather could take the race off the turf and while she’s a better turf runner and we’d prefer this one stay on the grass, she has run very well on the dirt at Monmouth Park in the past so if it does come off it will be a shorter field and not the worst thing at all. Tracy Ann’s Legacy gets a nice mention in the article about trainer Kelly Breen.
  • Finally for entries, Brynbella looks for her 2nd win in a row at Penn National next Wednesday a few hours after U Kant Whip It  runs at Delaware Park. A nice short field, a repeat of her last makes her the horse to beat in here

  • Tessa P back at Monmouth Park after her debut at Pimlico last week.
  • Fire's Finale is training really well after his season debut, had a terrific workout at Monmouth Park last weekend. There’s two nice allowance races coming up at Parx with bonus $ for him as a Pa. bred June 7th and 9th. Hopefully one of them will go, if not we’ll look at a race at Monmouth Park for him in June. Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for May 13, 2021

May 13, 2021 at 8:47 pm • By Anonymous

General News

We are busy prepping for the Fasig-Tipton Sale of 2 year olds in training in Timonium, Maryland early next week.  We expect it to be a very competitive sale, but hope to get 2-4 new horses at reasonable cost to add to the stable for the upcoming Monmouth Park Meet and Summer racing along the East Coast.

Horse by Horse News

  • Some good news to share coming out of yesterday’s race at Penn National. Brynbella broke her maiden going away at Penn National. She was ridden aggressively by top rider Julio Hernandez who took her immediately to the lead and never looked back.  We think there are more wins to come for her this summer off this impressive 4+ length score!  Congrats to all.
  • Fire's Finale  fine out of his race at Parx on Tuesday and back at Monmouth Park to settle in for the Summer.  He has done a lot of travelling in the past week, so he should be happy to be back home.
  • Adhwaa  also fine out of her race at Parx on Tuesday and we will be looking for a little easier slot for her in the coming weeks.
  • Tracy Ann's Legacy has arrived at Monmouth Park and continues to train towards entry in the Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park on May 30th.
  • Tessa P and U Kant Whip It both have their gate cards and Trainer Kelly Breen would like them to breeze one or two more times before entering in a race.  There are possible races for both the first weekend in June.

  • Life On the Edge  had a nice work last Friday and is ready to run.  We are actively searching for a race for her.  She was entered yesterday for a race that only drew 4 others and it did not go.

Kenwood Racing Stable Notes for May 5, 2021

May 7, 2021 at 8:16 am • By Anonymous

General News

The horses are on the move and some new entries as well.  In addition, we are preparing for the Fasig-Tipton 2 year old Sale on May 17-18th in Timonium, Maryland, where we will be looking for horses in multiple price ranges, while focusing on New Jersey State-breds to add to the Kenwood Racing Stable.  As many of you may know, this year’s Kentucky Derby Winner was purchased as a 2 year old for $35,000 utilizing a value oriented approach similar to what we do.

Horse by Horse News

  • Fire's Finale and Tracy Ann's Legacy left Palm Meadows this morning for the trip to Monmouth Park.  Both are well and Fire’s Finale is entered in the 10th race on Tuesday May 11th at Parx for his 3 year old debut.  The race is a 6 furlong Allowance which is a little short for him, but after the long winter layoff will act as a good tune-up.  Tracy Ann’s Legacy, as previously stated, is being pointed to the Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park on May 30th.
  • Adhwaa has been training great, according to Trainer Kelly Breen and his Assistant John Attfield. She is entered in a 7 furlong Allowance in the 9th race at Parx on Tuesday, directly before the race for Fire’s Finale.  It would sure be a nice Daily Double for the Kenwood Racing Stable.
  • Brynbella also fine out of her race and is entered in a Maiden Claiming Race at Penn National on Wednesday May 12th.
  • Tessa P and U Kant Whip It both breezed out of the gate this past Monday (see below) and Kelly said they would work once more at Palm Meadows (No gate) and then be shipped to Monmouth Park early next week.  Once there, they will work from the gate with hopes of earning their gate cards and then could debut early in the Monmouth Park meet.

Tessa P (2-Year-Old Filly)
Date: May 3, 2021
